There is a world of difference between the Power FC port & what is available & the mass of gear you can now buy to plug into a OBD 2.

Because it is not just to display flashy read only things.

It is because you can integrate it with a bunch of other stuff (eg GPS log) and thereby increase the functionality of the logging by orders of magnitude. Added to which whatever you may want to use is fully developed & readilly available. Hell half of it just uses your phone.
