Who would win between a 2001 r34 manual stock standard gt-t vs a ford xr6 ute.. 4l straight 6, 4 speed automatic from a standing start?

Sorry if this post seems out of place in this thread, but does anyone know the differences between XR6 sedan and ute in terms of weight, drag coefficients, performances, etc. with the same spec? i.e 4L straight 6, 4 speed automatic, etc.

The reason I asked is I've been in a friend's stock R34 manual GT-T coupe while cruising with another friend's modified auto XR6 sedan. They are both good drivers.

On the free way, they gave it abit go. XR6 auto won, hands down. :P

wats a stock 25 got 185kw?? standard 4ltr falcons are 182kw i believe so i can see it beeing close race... falcon is heavier but most likely has more torque.

LOL rowan......

I wouldn't know anything about R34s and Falcons. But my friend's Falcon was modified, has forged injectors, exhaust, blowoff valve, etc. and he used to take it to the Barbagallo on every Wednesday nights.

That's probably why his is alot faster than stock R34 manual coupe.

What are forged injectors? lol. Blowoff valve isn't a performance mod, but it does mean the Falcon was an XR6T not just an XR6. Of course a modified XR6T is going to demolish a stock R34 lol.

no it could be a na with a fake bov, mighty car mods style

Sorry, I meant forged pistons, injectors, etc., and yes, it was an auto XR6T. :P

automatic transmissions are always quicker.

Why are all drag cars auto's?

There is difference between a falcon eb auto gearbox and a Lenco drag transmission lol. In reference the Nissan turbo cars all the manual models from factory are quicker than the auto counterparts with stock ET's and thats generally across with board. Drag cars are a different story.

dunno what year the xr6 turbo was, but they come out of the factory with about 240 or 260kw, so i wouldnt be too gutted, those things are quite brisk even without mods. especially the latest models, bloody hell.

I think his is 2003-2004, not the new one.

But yeah, freaking quick.

    • Hi guys, planning to get 18x9 +25 in fronts and 18x10 +25 in rears been reading the whole thread and cant really find anything   Anyone know if these will fit a r34 gtt with no scrubbing or guard work needed?
    • They usually get made by hand as part of any such swap.
    • Was planning on getting an R35 MAF and the adapter, should this be okay? Also any idea where I could get my hands on an intake pipe?
    • I mean yes, if you're starting from scratch on an unknown engine yes you don't need to be doing all kinds of math in the background but if you're doing relatively minor changes like AFM + injectors + boost up with some aftermarket turbos it takes quite a bit of math if you want to do something like maintain OEM fuel + timing tables but compressed and then a bit more load scale up top. I think I've spent too much time working on big engineering nightmares though so I'm a big fan of trying to constrain the scope of whatever work I'm doing as much as possible and trying to get it right before moving on. For example, a local owner just did the usual E85 + single turbo conversion to his R32 GTR and nearly burned his car to the ground doing some spirited driving up the local mountains. Turbine is unshielded and too close to the hood insulation. It's tough to balance "just get the project done" and "seemingly small details can cause massive setbacks I'm not willing to deal with".
    • No idea about Neil's steering wheel, but I have the same behaviour in the Stagea. I doubt it has ever been messed with so might be normal. Indicating to turn right at a roundabout and correcting even a little bit to the left to go around will cancel the indicator. Never considered it an issue other than it being a bit odd.
