Steve

Trbs didn't specify his requirements/application for the turbo so i don't know what he wants from it, therefore, i comment on what i would prefer on that engine fomr the info which i read form the manufacturers website.

This information obtained by the manufacturer's website is what i use and should be used by all customers as to draw their own conclusions on what the HKS turbo's are capable of and then to make their own decision on what to buy.

so you would prefer a 2540 over 2535, based on the HKS website? then why say this:

My comment regarding the GT2535 on the RB20 was based on what i saw on my friend's dyno, so given that info, it has left a sour impression on me.  Maybe the car had problems in the setup/tune which is why it didn't make the power u state, but at the same time, that's what it made, so that's what i told.

first you say you should make descisions based on website, then you say your decision is based on your experience, but you will still make a recommendation based on a website????

...so don't go thinking you're some authoritive figure on turbo matching.

well I dont, I didnt mean to give that impression - but I dont mind throwing my 2c worth in either, its a public forum, trbs asked a question, you used a website to show how good a GT2540 was (imo, it didnt look that good), but the same website showed what I considered to be a better turbo in the 2535, which wasnt any good because you had seen one make only 190rwkw at 25psi. I dont know all that much about turbos, but enough to know that something wasnt right, and that the result could not be indicative of the turbo.

also, your claim (even though inconsistent - last time it was a RB20) that a GT2530 can make 230rwkw on an RB25 @ 1.2bar

do a search, Sly33 has made 230rwkw at 1.2bar on his RB25, he has posted his results on this forum

My bad for talking about a 2530 on an RB25, but in this instance we are talking about an RB25

I could have used the example of on an RB20 - yes I do know a guy who owned an RB20 powered cefiro, he owns D1 garage if you ever want to ask him personnaly.

as you could be telling figures from a high reading dyno, therefore, we cannot take these comparisons into consideration.

but you dont mind quoting figures from a dyno that could be very low reading????

That's a pretty hard comparison when your friend is running a RB25 which is 500cc larger than the RB20 that i mentioned.

As mentioned, I have two valid examples of 2530, one fitted to RB25, one to RB20 - its not really fair that I compare RB25 to RB20? but its OK for you to compare a RB20 with a 2535 to what you think a 2540 will do on an RB25

Trbs,

my apologies about this, good luck with your decision and hopefully you can use the info in this forum to help u learn more about turbo sizing and specs so that u can understand and know exactly what u need for what u want out of your car.

cheers.

ditto

Steve,

fyi, if i don't have details/info based on my own experiences, (if i can) i will refer to and recommend anything that i can find on the web, such as the HKS spec sheets for their own turbos.

all my comment about the GT2535 was, that i 'personally' wasn't very impressed with it from what i saw, and based on the specs/info from HKS' own website, i would recommend/prefer the GT2540 over the GT2535 as it seemed like it was better suited to the larger RB25 engine.
