To Do Valve Spring Or Not? Rb30/26 Type B Cams

Hi all,

Just a quick one,

Just getting a build sorted and just at the head work stage, going to just drop in some tomie B poncams, what springs should i dropin to acompany these cams?

I know std is ok but

forged bottem end, head had basic porting

turbo still undecided but going to be around 400-500kwpower range

looked at the tomie range but they seem more suited for big lift cams?

You don't have to change valve springs using poncams but depending on how old they are it's a good idea to change them. Any upgrade spring will do.

For the power you arehoping to make, there is no way stock springs will be up to it, especislly with bigger than stock cams.

think std springs would only be good for 350-400kw

i use the tomei type a with 10.85mm lift (i think) in my 26/30

im going for similar horsepower to ur self using tomei pro cams too...

Have a look at the non-jap range, stuff like Brian Crower, performace Springs etc

cant go past the supertech ones. 600 ish of ebay. good for 13mm lift and comes with titanium retainers. and they actually have a HIGHER SEAT PRESURE wich alot of the jap springs dont.
