Just after abit of advice.

My car has been sitting around for nearly 12 months, the last time it was started was 1 month ago and it was only let idle for about 10mins...

Anyway the car will not start anymore, it will wind over constantly but will not fire.

What I want to know is could the old fuel be the cause of the car not starting or would old fuel just cause it to run rough?

could be a number of things ie plugs maybe fouled and bad fuel pull a plug out and earth it get someone to crank it c if it sparks. if so fuel issues...

It's unlikely to be a problem of fuel quality. After all, the fuel is simply a mixture of liquid hydrocarbons that form an explosive mixture in the presence of the correct amount of air. While the fuel may go "off" with time, it does not go so "off" as to no longer form an explosive mixture in air.

You probably fouled the plugs last time you started the engine. Take them out, clean them up, try again.

When your trying to get it to fire, is it just making a ticking noise?

I'd be giving the battery a charge up (even if it still has power to turn on lights etc), when you kicked it over a month ago, it still might have had enough power and you only let it idle for 10mins therefore it would not have been enough to fill the battery up and you need a larger charge in the battery to get the straight 6 to fire.

Plugs seem unlikely and a lot more effort to go through to double check as a cause.

nah he said its turn over fine, so not battery,

I'd be checking the plug & spark, as mentioned, if thats all fine must be fuel supply?

my car sat since december last year, had started it twice in that time and fuel seemed to be fine, running 14psi with no knock so it shouldnt have stopped it starting, unless it had bad fuel, was it running bad when you parked it?

Thanks for the response guys, Im just trying to nut it out and it makes it even harder because Im in a sydney and the car is back in tas and Im just relaying the info my mate is giving me as he is the one who's having the dramas trying to start the car.

It really must be something minor and i was hoping to be able to find out on here what it could be before I have to pay someone to go and sort it out for me.

Yeah the car was running fine when it was last started.

Its a fresh rb26 engine thats only just been run in and had its first oil change.

The only thing thats been changed since the last time it was started 4 weeks ago is the battery was removed from the car.

A new battery was then put in the car yesterday and now it will not start. It will just wind and wind over but will not fire.

Can anyone tell me what fuses may be blown so i can have that checked first? I highly doubt that the spark plugs are fouled or anything like that as nothing has changed or been touched since it was last started.

Also I doubt its a fuel issue as the pumps prime up fine when the acc is on and after winding it for a bit you can smell fuel.

Does anyone know if it would be of any help if i plug the laptop into the Vipec to see if thats bringing up any faults or anything?

Just check any of the fuses that play a part in the ignition of the engine.

Also, if you havent already, check for loose conections with wires etc etc, Simple things like that get overlooked so often :ermm:

I would also check immobiliser if it has one and make sure no wires have come off the terminals when the battery was changed.

Good thought, but dont all immobilsers actually stop you from being able to turn the engine over? i know mine does (it was scared me a couple of times when the immobiliser hasnt detected the sensor and just been dead :ermm:)

Some will just cut fuel and spark, which is the best imo coz then if joy rider goes to steel it they will just think its a POS and wont start, if nothing happens at all they may start ripping shit apart to try to hot wire it.
