hardly a laughing matter but yes most insurance wont cover you at a motorsport event

there is nothing stopping you calling up to trry and make a claim and be honest about it

but they would certainly have a lot of ground to reject the claim, but you can certainly try

ie being honest and saying i was at a club day and had an issue, i wouldnt lie about it, but you could try

so was this after the hill near the start?

sad to hear that you binned it... your not the only person to ever have a big off on the long wang but it sounds like your the first to write off a car... your okay though and that's the main thing... annoying cliche I know but its really the truth... you'll have other cars

the long wang has taken a few scalps over the years, people need to respect it, its not designed to be a race track and there's nowhere to go if you make a mistake!

I'm sorry but if you had half a brain you'd lie about it and get a payout.. and if u don't lie about it.. you pretty much don't get paid out, and if u do, its hapened before and all they do is STILL REJECT your claim if they find out.. they will not try and dick you for fraud.. thats my 2 cents.. anyway....... O_O and if you've had a good history.. even the better reason to try.

They would most likely follow it up with legal action when they realised it was a dodgy claim. Especially if they had paid it out and then found out afterwards... :P

Insurance companies take fraud quite seriously.

(Sorry to hijack your thread Grant)

Insurance at all? or you not covered?

Motorsport activites - no insurance cos everyone would stack their cars.

Grant, sorry to hear about this mate - v glad to hear you and your brother came through relatively unscathed, that's the important thing.

Thanks Aaron.

Yeah, I thought about making a claim but I can't be bothered being reamed by assessor and their cronies only to have to be told they won't cough up the $. It's simply not worth it, If I crashed on street, it's another story.

It was before the hill of clockwise actually.

Me too was disappointed when the R is no good, but what can we do about it, what's done is done.

I was confident I'd ace this run but the car wasn't co-operating with me though...

grant buy my ke70 then you can eat all the armco you want :P

Hmm.....

so sorry to hear about the crash grant...saw the crash scene....good thing is you and your brother walked away from the scene with hardly a scratch...

Thanks Harsh, It goes to show how well it is built. Couple of people reckon it could be fixed, but $10k to fix it, what for?

About insurance, no point in discussing about it cos trackdays means you're not covered. And these Insurance Companies are bit like banks, they love to grab our money and have trouble giving them away.

Gettin sick of the weld job yet? :P

Was pretty shocked to see this Grant, it was only at the show and shine we were talking about that tree in your front yard dropping oil on it. I know Dave would have wanted you to RB26 into sedan lol.

Plenty of people write off cars on the street (me) let alone motorsport, so don't feel too bad beyond the loss...just be re-assuring to your parents cause they will be the most affected by this :(

Adam,

Yep, no more worries about oil stain from trees, that gotta count for something!

Dave is bit disappointed about me not dropping 26 into my sedan besides I've been trying to get him to buy it off me.

I suddenly felt better when Jack told me someone has binned 911 GT3RS at Sandown, there is always someone worse off. Not sure if it makes me a bad person?

I'll have a huge work into re-assuring my parents... Should be fun.

As for replacment, have been looking at another Skyline but not sure which.

:P moron!!

Lying to an insurance company is a failure of an idea.

As Ive said Grant, I am SO glad both you and Dermott are OK.

Was awful to witness, but I couldnt be happier you guys walked away.

I wish you the best with your replacement and hope your parents let up on you a bit :(

Glad to hear your all good though grant, shame about the R. Hope it all works out for you.

That is ridiculous honestly.

Haha they will get over it in due time mate. Atleast you know your parents give a shit about you :P

Indeed there is always someone worse off. And for what it's worth, there's a reason insurance companies don't insure cars on the race track...because cars end up in sidewalls all the time. Just one of the expenses of motorsport, and if the late great Peter Brock can crash then anyone can.

Can't replace the things we love and lost but you can save up and get something better to take your mind off it :(

Take care mate!

You're exactly right. That is exactly what someone with half a brain would do :P

    • Update Issues 5 (plus #4) - 10 After making a claim about issue #4's missing part, DeAgostini Japan sent a whole new issue #4 and it arrived about 2 weeks after that. That was back in early March. It took another 4 weeks to receive issues 5 - 13 though. This update is for issues 5 - 10. Ove the 5 issues the front left suspension and most of the engine have been completed. The quality of the castings and fit of the parts is quite good, it seems better than DeAgostini's BNR34 Skyline GT-R from the Fast & Furious 2 movie, which (to me anyway) doesn't seem to have as tight tolerances or quite as accurate castings.  Each issue has a lot of info about the 1989 - 1993 Skyline range and other Nissan models from that era, but the focus is on the BNR32 Skyline GT-R Nismo and the various racing it did in Japan, Europe (Spa 24hrs) and of course Australia. I've included some text translated with Google Lens in some photos and will add to them if there's anything worth including.
    • If it's for a SR20, make sure it's not the American Poncams, might as well call them Poocams. Had a set in a friend's car, all scuffed up after a few track days. Like the metallurgy Tomei USA used is junk. Went back to JDM OG Tomei Poncams, no issues till now.   Tomei USA is not the real OG Tomei.   Random rant over, fk the US of A, bunch of c u n t s.
    • Most of the industry in North America either runs on Siemens or Allen Bradley. I have two redundant S7-1500's on my desk right next to me for simulation. Siemens has been losing ground though since Stuxnet, as cybersecurity is a big thing. In my line of work that is federally regulated, you must by law have a cybersecurity management program in place and its audited and inspected every so often.  I work with Emerson PLC's daily (RX3i's) and have done large biogas/refinery projects with their DCS's. Their PLC's are somewhat OK minus the way they do PLC redundancy (You have to download on both PLC's separately every time you make a change )  As for their DCS's... you'll be limited financially first before anything else stops you. Costs are exorbiant at roughly 10x what it would cost you to do with any other system (e.g AB PAC).  1990's, those suckers are brand new haha! Kraft-Heinz (An old client when I use to work for an ESP) still runs Siemens TI505 PLC's from the mid 80's. Ohh how I don't miss working with those... you could only do a certain number of online downloads until it's "Change" buffer would be full and you would then need to go offline to do a full download. There was no warning of when this was coming up and it generally would happen when you would go in at 2am to make changes before production -_-.
    • Unfortunately, not only is that not the case, one of the main "Selling points" of safety over comms is they clearly state in writing that there's no need to segregate safety networks from non-safety networks. It always gets intermingled with everything else on an ICS/OT network.
