Hey guys

ok so gonna go ahead with the next bunch of mods... aiming for 350 - 375rwkw on E85

car is R33 GTR VSPEC

current mods are (producing 270rwkw)

- PFC

- 3" cat back

- Garrett -9s

- shitty compliance cat

- stock everything else

I need help with the following. Rather that just stating the type of part i need, it would be really helpful if people can suggest a brand and part.

I need:

- intercooler core (how thick should I go without creating any unnecessary lag)

- Injectors - 1000cc?? which brand??

- Fuel pump - I dont think an internal bosch 044 will be enough flow... will one external do the job??

- clutch - im thinking a jim berry item... do i really need a twin plate... (i am planning to take it to the strip every now n then)

- cam gears - which brand???

- boost controller - do i really need one?? or can my tuner mess around with the actuators to get the desired pressure

- exhaust system - 3.5" item

- z32 AFM - easy one

keep in mind that my budget excluding the exhaust is 4-5k... if its necessary then will fork out the extra $$ for a bigger exhaust

planning to tune it on 98 for now, but will retune for e85 when caltex do their thing

please advice

cheers

Umair

i didnt think the -9s would make that power???

stock cooler should be ok.

Jim berry Full monty clutch should be able to handle it and an occassional drag run

cam gears any brand, they all do the same thing, need to be tuned anyway.

use a decent brand EBC, profec b is affordable and very easy to setup

-9s on E85 should crack 350

i'm pretty sure i need a cooler... stock ones are good for 300ish kw from memory

yeh had profec b in old car so will prob grab one of those again (just wanted to check if they were actually needed)

made the mistake of putting a 'cheap' clutch in the old car which just fried spirited driving so I want to make sure that doesnt happen again.

thanks bud

keep em coming :)

Hey Im not sure what the -9s can flow but ive got 380rwkw on e85 with the following setup

PFC

HKS 2530s

R34 GTR intercooler (standard R32 cooler made 360rwkw)

850cc delphi injectors

2 intank walbro pumps (one 044 not enough)

no cam gears !

ive got nismo twin plate alot easier to drive with compared to single plate but will do the job fine

GREDDY PROFEC B boost controller ( u need good boost control !)

3" exhaust with ebay dumps and 2.5" downpipes

RB20/25 afms

Edited by GMASTR

interesting... 380rwkw on 3" exhaust... guess i dont really need to upgrade that

thanks for yr input man... how are your injectors holding up?? getting close to max duty cycle??

I'm going to upgrade my cooler just to be on the safe side

Yes, you do need larger. The gains to be had a quite substantial.

The E85 in his instance is somewhat masking the issue.

Cooler will also be fine mate, plenty of people here 380rwkw on the stock cooler. Some even more...

2530's will do 380-400rwkw on PULP. E85 + 2530 = 420-440rwkw territory.

But then you don't have a built motor and a filthy restrictive exhaust...

No woryz man, the exhaust has a 3" cat and two straight through mufflers and is street legal ! The only thind i needed to change were the front injector seals once, they became hard from e85 and started leaking under boost otherwise all good, my injectors are at approx 70% duty cycle, Its a good idea to change ur cooler, ive kept mine stock bcoz i wanted to achieve the most power safely using a standard motor and factory surrounding parts :(

Make my 3.5" exhaust on the HR31 is 90-91dB, I can assure you it's quieter than most 3" systems i hear around here.

Whenever i go on a cruise I'm totally stealth thats how quiet it is.

4" isn't much worse either provided you get GOOD mufflers and a big flowing CAT.

Owning a GTR isnt cheap, nor is chating 350-370rwkw... If you need a 3.5" or 4" exhaust, then pay for it :)

3.5" should do you for your setup either way.

  • 4 months later...

Put ID1000's in it, mid $600's for a set.

Get cam gears definately, they are cheap !

I got a set of GATES RACING Cam Gears and timing belt in a package of the GCG AUS website for like $150, do the timing belt when you put em on !

Don't skimp on exhaust, it gets exponentially more important the more power you run.

Those turbos are too small, sure it could probably be done but do you really want to stress the your engine that hard ?

I hit 370rwkw on e85 with the following setup

2860-5's

2 x walbro intank fuel pumps

1000cc injectors

Nistune ECU

NISMO AFM's

STD Airbox

STD R34 GTR intercooler

3in exhaust

Turbosmart E-Boost street

STD cams & cam gears

I've got a Jim Berry Clutch in mine and its great!!

i dont know how your turbo's would go compared with mine?

but you dont need to change intercooler for 350rwkw, and a 3in will do 350 easily

i am finding at the moment that the STD cams, STD intercooler are holding me back from more power and maybe the exhaust too.

i am pretty happy with the setup now.

the only difference in running e85 compared with PULP is the need for a bigger fuel system.

i had 350rwkw on PULP before going to e85 and the only change i made was going from

660cc injectors to 1000cc injectors

1 x walbro fuel pump to 2 x walbro fuel pumps

STD fuel lines & rail to a second fuel line from the pump to the rail and mod the rail to suit

retune with more boost and enjoy the added midrange.

you will probably notice the biggest difference in midrange going from PULP to e85

  • 3 weeks later...

Yeh mine made 270 with stock dumps, front pipes and a compliance cat... so the consensus seems to b 2 pumps and 1000cc injecters as a minimum... the car now has bigger front pipes, hi flow cat and 3.5" catback so we'll see what happens
