Hi

Im currently looking for A R33 GTR that has some serious work done to it.

Im looking for something in fantastic condition inside and out, with a detailed engine bay.

I have been looking through the usual mediums - but was wondering if anyone knows of any for sale in any performance shops, car yards etc.

Im in Perth but travelling to purchase the right car is not a problem

Please if you know of any for sale let me know.

Daniel

ps - thankyou in advance.

If your after something thats already highly modified ide suggest looking around at Import Mechanic/performance places and also in japan.

Theres a few cars ive seen in HPI that state.. "The car came as is from japan" and most are atleast 300kw

you can import a heavily modded GTR, the only this is you'd have to put back all the standard

parts to the car, for it to "look" stock before sending it to be complied. :uh-huh:

besides, if you get from prestige, the prices of a modded and a standard GTR maybe

only a couple of grand difference, its just what you want. Do it up yourself or comes complete. :D

Autostyle in Sydney have a genuine Top Secret R33 customer car... its heavily modified but its also got a hefty price tag, which you can expect for the car it is.

Speak to Autostyle they mainly deal in exclusive/high performance cars and im sure could source you one.

Thanks Guys - keep the advise coming.

Franks - yeah I know the one - its got the yuck grean engine and rims i dont like - still looks very nice.

Morgs - yeah ph is selling that silver one - look awesome - but i cant justify spending 60000 + on a 8 year old car. But i do have his webpage bookmarked to keep an eye on the price (see if it comes down).

Something that ive noticed.....

there are some really nice r33 gtr's out there, fact is though a good condition r33 gtr are selling for between 34000 and 38000 (with few minor mods). There seem to be a few very nice example of modified r33 gtr's out there - but some of the ridiculous prices being asked is comical.

At the end of the day, some of these GTR are 7 - 9 years old, and we all know that when we modified a car we are not going to recoup all of the money - in fact we will get very little back. Another thing is I think people realise this cause these cars dont seem to be selling, you see alot of these cars for sale for a very long time.

Daniel, to buy as quoted by yourself 'a R33 GTR that has some serious work done to it.

Im looking for something in fantastic condition inside and out, with a detailed engine bay' is gonna cost you more than the money your expecting to pay. Your looking at gtr's in the mid to late $30k??? WTF??? Mind you ph1's car is worth every cent and I bet you he's losing quite a bit of money compared to what he spent.....

Personally I think your dreaming if you want a heavily modified gtr and pay peanuts for it, unless you buy one that has been thrashed like that pornstar that screwed 400 guys in one day.....

And as for not justifying paying so much for a car that's 7-9 years old, go and buy a r34 gtr that's been modified heavily and is only 3-5 tears old, see how much you'll spend then.....

Be realistic mate and go and buy a stock one within your budget....

My 2cents.....

I think it's more because buyers are tight with their money (naturally) and don't realise the blood, sweat, tears and pure cash that went into building these "highly modified cars".

Everyone wants to buy a "heavily modified" car with "fantastic condition inside and out, with a detailed engine bay"... Basically, you want it all. You want a PERECT GTR.

But then they get upset when the owner wants to sell it for a premium over a standard car. $34-38,000? Sure you might find a rare bargain for that price that's in good condition, but most cars in that price range have been accident damaged, repainted, etc etc and have existing nigglies that you will have to fix up, since you're after such a PERFECT GTR... Once you own a GTR, you'll realise that those little nigglies soon add up to a few thousand dollars and your initial "moite what a BAAAAAAARGAIN" turns out not to be so cheap after all.

Of course the owner won't recoup all the money spent modifying the car, but the type of "heavily modified" car you seem to be after would have upwards of $25-30,000 spent on them (don't believe me? Ask ph1 for his mods list and costs) and it's only fair to charge a premium for the car.

If you want to pay standard car prices, buy a standard car. Personally, it sounds to me like you're aiming out of your budget if you're talking about high $30k GTRs.

I know what your saying Daniel, but reading over your first post again, your implying that you wanna buy a heavily nodified gtr, but not willing to spend money on a car that's 7-9 years old?!?!

Seems your confused and asking for a bit much for a lot less to me....

Okay, that's fine. Lets do a very quick breakdown here shall we?

I'll use ph1's car as an example because I know what condition it's in, and how he looked after the car.

You would be VERY hard pressed to find an immaculate and anally-looked after 1996 GTR like ph1's for $40,000 but lets just go off that.

$40,000

NISMO LM-GT4 Wheels and Bridgestone S01 tyres - $5000

Tein Coilovers and NISMO Circuit Link Set/Tension Rods/Bushes - $5000

Harrop Brake Kit - $5000

NISMO Triple Plate Clutch - $3000

Trust Intercooler - $2000

Blitz SBC-ID EBC - $1500

PowerFC - $1500

Whoops! That's already $63000. So basically ph1 is losing his entire engine build (not calculating the $8000 labour cost he paid to blueprint it and build it. The buyer gets that for free. You implied that he's asking too much for it? What, you think he should lose MORE?!?!

Come on man... Be reasonable eh?

fark you guys shit me ,

Im not implying that these cars havent had big dollars spent on them, Im not looking for a GTR for 40000, or 45000, my budget is over 50.

And Merli

I NEVER MENTIONED ANYWHERE that ph is asking to much. NEVER

I said its a awesome car and that I was keeping a eye on it to see if the price drops - please dont quote me incorrectly in the future.

    • Hi. A little bit of an update. It maybe(hope not) looks like i would need a new tranny(it would be "maybe" a cheaper or better option anyway) So i need some info. I know i need a different propshaft(i can make custom one) LSD is not a problem cuz the engine will be still(for now) N/A RB20. So if i buy RB25DET NEO tranny...is there something else i need? I read something about push/pull type but i do not know if i need to "change" something or i can just plug n play onto my engine a go? Thanks for the advice
    • Good morning all, Bit of a random question but figured I’d finally throw it out after wondering for a long while. Before I start, I'm hoping to do this purely out of personal preference. I think it would look better at night, and don't mind at all spending a few hours and dollars to get it done. I've copied this from a non-Skyline specific forum, so I apologize for the explanation of our headlight switch setup that we all know. Here we go: Zero lights (switch off) Parking lights (switch position 1) being a rectangular marker on the outside of the housing, my low beam being the projector in the centre (position 2), and a high beam triggered by my turn signal stalk. Most North American cars I’ve owned of this era have power to the amber corner (turning indicator) light as part of the first switch (parking lights). I’d love to have these amber corners receive power when the headlights and parking lights are on (headlight switch), yet still blink when using the turn signal which is of course a separate switch. Hopefully I’ve explained my question correctly. Is anyone aware of a way in which I might be able to achieve this? Thanks in advance
    • My heads are cathedral port! It's likely possible, but I don't want to add any extra moving parts (I know they don't move) between the heads, manifolds, etc. It will also affect how injectors/fuel rails etc sit and I don't really know if it would change how the FAST manifold goes/sits/fits. I have the LS6 steam pipes already as I have a very late LS1 block so it should be fine. I couldn't find anyone who had ever actually used one for this purpose, it seems 100% of people grind the water pump. The thermal spacers are 12mm and are half way to the cost of the newer water pump anyhow... so if it comes to that I suppose I'd rather buy a new pump. The bearing in the pump I do have is a little.. clunky, but it hasn't done that much time and I never noticed it when the car was together in the past few years, so..
    • The bushing has failed, not all that uncommon for a car of this age.  Any mechanic should be able to push in a new bushing for you, or you can probably buy the entire lower control arm, complete with bushes.
    • Could you not use "thermal" spacers to give the clearance, like the ones I used between the blower and head? That raised the manifold height by around 10-15mm Albeit the ones I used were for cathedral ports, but I assume they have similar for rectangular ports????
