No more chiropractors bills! YAY

I yanked my old seats out and looked at my abortion fix roof lining from when I originally removed the sunroof. Sits a lot lower that the standard roof lining and every time I wear a helmet I have to bend my neck just to fit in the car. Also the tint on the perspex that I replaced the sunroof frame with was starting to peel as it had got a little bit of moisture under it and looked dodgy.

So I pulled out the sunroof spec roof lining and pulled the tint off the perspex, then I had to remove all of the excess tint adhesive (while getting a bit tispy off the fumes). Managed to paint the bottom of the perspex with a polyurethane based paint (with no primer so finger crossed it doesn't peel) and then sikaflexed the hell out of the seal to stop any chance of leaking. The angle grinder then had to come out to cut away the excess roof frame that the original sunroof frame attaches to.

Got myself a roof lining out of a Gts-t coupe without a sunroof and a weekend of work later voila, it fits. There are a few brackets that are different which I had to use but the only real issue was the mounts for both interior lights are different. So I just fixed them to the roof lining (dodgy but effective) and you would never know it had a sunroof from the inside.

Just have to clean out all the metal filing and put the seats/harness in and should have a tonne more head room at the track. May sound like a boring modification but it's going to make the car so much better to drive

Next in line after that is;

GTR Bonnet and Grill

Oil cooler with Thermostat

New cooler piping hot side

and then maybe

S15 rear cradle

Tomei Poncams and Springs

bride seats look sick man!

im surprised an oil cooler was not on the cards earlier considerin the heat you get in Perth and all the track days and thrashing you do :P

I've had the oil cooler sitting there for over 6 months... I'm just lazy

nice build man....seems to be a few people making awesome power from RB25 (standard bottom end)...mine is currently running a RB25 with TDO6 - 20g (8cm rear) and running 16psi for an easy 260+kw

turbo doesnt come to its own until 21psi or better but was way up on power and was worried about the motor so it was backed out...might take it for a re-tune and see what happens now...

Went and did some research at JPC last night... To anyone who needs or wants to know the information the S15 rear cradle is approx 6mm wider than the R32 one, so a total track addition on 6mm (3mm each side) which means I should still be able to fit 255's on the rear on a 9" rim without too much negative camber.

So we are going to give the S15 subframe a go for better geometry in the rear. The bushes can apparently be stretched the extra 5mm or so needed rather than being replaced the ally mushrooms and then we will try and install the ally lock collars if they can be persuaded to fit.

Also going to install R33 LCA's at the front so I can increase the camber (will also mirror the track change at the rear).

Vipec started last night and getting ready for cams to be installed!

Lots of other work and should (fingers crossed) be back ready in a month :)

They are in and running! Vipec is pretty cool, so much shit you can do with it compared to a Nistune/Power FC. Got switches for launch control and boost maps plus running the wideband back through the computer for auto tuning of AFR's

Tune maybe tomorrow night, will see how we go...

In other news car is now full Frankenstein spec as we have been doing lots of other things to it at the same time;

  • R34 power steering pump
  • R34 harmonic balancer
  • S13 power steering rack with rack spacers for extra lock (no hicas)
  • R33 front lower control arms
  • Solid ally steering bushes
  • Finally installed the Setrab oil cooler
  • S15 rear cradle (well not yet but happening over the weekend after tune)

This is a good read... I didn't realise you could fit a standard GTR bar to a GTSt; as I thought the bar was wider due to the fat gaurds/indicators etc. Are there any tricks to making this work? Or does it bolt straight up?

Any videos? Comments on the difference with new rear end etc?

No in car but might get a few from outside from other people... My Gopro didn't arrive in time :(

I was running 235 front and 255 rear AD08's last night so hard to compare outright but I did a 58.3 which is only 0.3 sec slower than my best time on RE55S. I would have probably dropped another second off with a bit more track time (I did my fastest lap on the last lap of the night) so I would say it's definitely faster.

R34 steering pump and S13 rack - Heaps better, steering is a lot lighter and doesn't "lock" up on sudden movements from left to right. The only issue with the install is you need to make custom lines up

R33 front LCA's - Worked well, pumped the track a little but allowed the extra camber (ran 3 deg last night) and the front end felt a lot better. Will probably try 3.5 deg with r-comps.

S15 subframe - Hard to compare because of the less grippy tyres but seems to be better. I was probably on the throttle a tad earlier. A better judge would probably be that on the way home I was able to nail third with no wheelspin where it used to head straight for limiter.

Overall I think it was all worth while, car seems to behave a lot better... Last night I overheated the tyres on one lap and they got very slippery but was able to catch the car when I went over the limit a lot easier than before

was you able to "stretch" the s15 sub frame bushes to fit it in?

and did you have to modify anything? ive been reading that s14/15 subframes into s13s need either the floor cut or a section of the subframe cut to fit?

Good work on the PS pump. I have been keeping an eye out for an R33 or R34 pump but have not been able to find a cheap one

Check on ebay, seen them going for like $80 and i just got rid of a spare i had too.

they fit average unless you go with GTR reo at the very least, best to go wide fenders and GTR front bar (genuine) tho you can find the copy bars to fit GTS for cheap aswell :D

Forgot to post the new graphs on here from Vipec and Poncams vs Nistune and stock cams (thick lines are new graphs). So it made an extra 40odd hp and more power everywhere including being more responsive.

Anyway, it did end up running out of fuel so I have just installed some new Deatschwerks 1200cc injectors (from 750cc) and also the new Walbro F90000269 416l/hr fuel pump (from Bosch 044).

Hopefully get it retuned with the new injectors soon, probably won't make any more power unless we are feeling stupid and really want to push it as far as it will go.
