Hopefully it wasn't a repost but I found this very interesting. I've been using Castrol Edge since i got the car but I guess not anymore. May switch to Mobil 1. Would have loved to see Shell in that mix up as well.

EDIT: Upon reading the comments, one mentions that the Motul 8100 X-cess is 5w-40 and it is true, making it unfair for Motul.

I want to see which one protects the best, not makes the most power. Get 5 identical brand new motors (make it 6 and include Shell).

Set them all up on an engine dyno and use a different oil in each.

Run them for 3 days straight, drop oil.

Run them again for 3 days straight through a varying load pattern, drop oil.

Run them against the rev limiter for a full 24 hours, drop oil.

Run them non stop for a week without an oil change, drop oil.

Now pull down the motors and see which oil was the true champion. Also send off all oil samples for analysis see which ones retained their lube properties the best.

That's a test I'd love to see.

Hasn't this Nulon marketing BS been covered before?

yes it has.

higher HP doesn't = protection. if you put olive oil in the engine it would probably make more HP than any of those, however the engine might not survive the drive home.

cowboy, that will give you a rough indication, however you still have to take into account different tollerances in each engine, etc.
