ive decided to throw in an r33 gtr in the mix - but it has to be super clean and have low k's for me to consider it.

im going to have a look at some 6.5's soon but theyre not the best looking cars, it needs to look good/modern because i tend to keep my cars for YEARS.

ive got a pretty big weekend then ill get into the search. ill keep you guys posted as i go.

Go for the s15. My brother bought a very nice pearl white jap spec r for around $20,000 (bone stock but with low kms) and it has been a very reliable car. Only things that will need changing if you decide to drive it hard/drift it/take it down the 1/4, would probably be the clutch and diff. You'll find that s15's feel like a very quick car even running factory boost (I don't know what it is about it, could be a lower seating position or light car). Not a lot of money has to be spent on the car to maintain it, it's only when you want to start modifying the exterior or engine that it can drain some serious cash.

P.S. don't buy an ADM s15... they are slow as aids

R32 GTR's are wallet vaccums!

ill get abused for saying this but.....

have you thought about going down the V8 side of life??? most might not be the best for trackdays but for 1/4mile and just having fun cruising you cant go past a good V8.

VY SS's are going for around $16,000

you can pick up a supercharger kit for an LS1 for just under $5,000 aswell. cheap 400kw.

i think ill delete my account now before the abuse floods in haha.

the way i think of it is, if you cant afford it... than dont buy it, pritty simple really.

hi there. i love these thread cos they always turn into a p1ssing contest no matter what.

BUT.

budget of 20grand... i have two suggestions - personally - i'm not a fan of the evo's.. purely because of the interiors ... i love everything else on the evo.. just the interior... not a fan.. too grungy..

for a car that i'm paying "larger" dollars for.. i personally couldn't sit in that as a daily driver... which brings me to exibit A)

no seriously - with the release of the Z34 (370z) the value of these Z cars naturally heads somewhat south.

that particular Z that i have shown you is a desperate sale (if it's still there)

so who knows.. he may even have two rubber arms to get rid of it?

but for 19 grand. a 6sp manual Z car would get my vote over some boyracer S15.

boom. headshot.

i was going to suggest a 350z. ive driven one a few times. they handle great. beautiful to drive. sound nice. dont attract too much attention. decked out nicely from factory.

but.... all the cars he mentioned on his short list are turbo. so for 20k you cant buy, and then turbo a 350z.

i do like them though.

may not be turbo, but you have to admit that it doesn't really matter considering they pack a fair bit of punch

The 6.5 TME is the coolest car in the lot however they are apparently a bitch to flash tune where as an Evo 7 can be more easily modded

Or get a JZX100! :)

at this stage im looking at a jap turbo only because they are the most fun, cheapest to modify and there are lots out there if i ever need parts. the 350z is something i would buy if i get frustrated after looking for a clean jap turbo car.

i wouldnt flash tune a car anyway - i tinker with my cars a lot so a tune-able ECU is something i will need as a minimum.

the s15 is on top of the list. im looking at one with an rb25 gearbox.... tune in next time to see what happens.

aids spread pretty quick in shit countries lol.

350z has alot or power for an NA, the base model comes with 300hp and the newer tricked out ones have as much as 350hp approx

Are you choosing the EVO VI for looks or performance..?

Why bother put it in the mix when the looks bug you so much..?

If your going to track it, I would not be too worried about how it looks.

Definitely get an Evo, and an 8 if you can. My mate bought an Evo 8 the other week and after lots of searching they seem to be the best bang for your buck at the moment. Couple grand more than an Evo 7, and much cheaper than an Evo 9. Best part about the Evo is coming from a coupe the sheer room in them is great. Not only do you have a cool, fun car but its really practical and after years in the R33 you've probably forgotten just how handy it can be.

Another option is an RX7. Not recommending it so much, but its definitely in your price range.

S15 is the best choice in your $20K budget. I just think you will not have the pick of the litter with "only" $20K for an evo 8 or even a 7. the best examples of those models get a fair bit more than $20K. same goes for an FD RX7. a nice 2001 is going to be closer to $25-$30K.

but $20K basically gives you your pick of any JDM S15 on the market (save for a few extreme examples) so you can end up with a really nice model.

Getting the best example of whatever car you buy is the key.

S15s are a very tunable car, very predictable handling. easy to throw around. great car. the JDM models are surprisingly quick in standard form too.

EVO6.5TMEFTW!

The only thing I 'dislike' about them is they are the last of that particular shape, with the VII's onwards having a much more modern look. But tjhey area fun car and good power can be had easy enough.

But with your $20K budget, that would be the car of choice (unless you want a fully sik rexxie)

agreed. 6.5 hands down winner for 20k.

nothing comes close IMO.
