Go to a competent auto trans place, ask them to drop the valve body, remove the 1-2 and 2-3 accumulator pistons/springs and replace them with welsh plugs (I think they are 50mm).

Shouldn't cost more than $200 including fresh fluid and makes a HUGE difference.

I see you are in WA, can you recommend some good shops that can do the above in WA?

I'm also thinking off getting a kit for my car.

Global Auto's can do it and seeing as you have an R33, I'm pretty sure he can do a full blown proper shift kit for yours.

Mine was the first 'B' (tiptronic) box he had seen so the best he could do without more info was the welsh plugs BUT, it made a HUGE difference and I'm not sure I would want anything harsher in my daily.
