I know it has been asked a thousand times before. But I cant find a thread that touches on it.

I have an R32 GTSt and looking at a rear pair of wheels that are 17 x 10" +44. Not sure what the offset limits are for clearing the inner suspension? Anyone? I am not concerned about outer guard, just need to know what sized offsets you can run before you have problems with fouling the shock-suspension etc

Hey, I've used this before when working out clearances.

http://www.rimsntires.com/rt_specs.jsp

Dial in the stock wheels, then the new wheels and it calculates how much closer to the guards and inner suspension components rims and tyres end up.

Also useful way of calculating overall tire diameter for different profiles/ widths too.

Thanks, but the problem is the std rims are so small and no real help when trying to work out clearances for a 10" rim. Hopefully somebody has fitted some decent sezied rim AND tyre in the bum and can work out if these +44s will fit. I want to run a 265 rear tyre on the 10" rim

Thanks, I understand that if i go GTR style offsets I will clear the suspension. But I want to use all the available space, so a +22 offset will leave a sea on the inside and cause issues for the guard. I am hoping there is a number around +30 to +44 or something that allows for inner guard clearance

just going off 9s 9.5s I'd say for a 10 inch an offset around +30 would be about right mate. think of a stock 33 GTR wheel which is +30 9 inch. now add half an inch to each side of that and bobs your uncle. maybe a +35 would give a little more guard clearance and still clear the suspension but I dunno about a +44.

The lmgt4's I sold you where 17x9.5 +38 and they were flush with the guard but can't remember if there was clearance on the inside. So I'd agree with above and say go about the +32mm area. 18x10 with +12 stick about 40mm out with 0 camber and 265's

    • They usually get made by hand as part of any such swap.
    • Was planning on getting an R35 MAF and the adapter, should this be okay? Also any idea where I could get my hands on an intake pipe?
    • I mean yes, if you're starting from scratch on an unknown engine yes you don't need to be doing all kinds of math in the background but if you're doing relatively minor changes like AFM + injectors + boost up with some aftermarket turbos it takes quite a bit of math if you want to do something like maintain OEM fuel + timing tables but compressed and then a bit more load scale up top. I think I've spent too much time working on big engineering nightmares though so I'm a big fan of trying to constrain the scope of whatever work I'm doing as much as possible and trying to get it right before moving on. For example, a local owner just did the usual E85 + single turbo conversion to his R32 GTR and nearly burned his car to the ground doing some spirited driving up the local mountains. Turbine is unshielded and too close to the hood insulation. It's tough to balance "just get the project done" and "seemingly small details can cause massive setbacks I'm not willing to deal with".
    • No idea about Neil's steering wheel, but I have the same behaviour in the Stagea. I doubt it has ever been messed with so might be normal. Indicating to turn right at a roundabout and correcting even a little bit to the left to go around will cancel the indicator. Never considered it an issue other than it being a bit odd.
    • Does anyone know if this is off centered? Looks like it, when I indicate to go right, but turn my steering wheel slightly left it cancels (was always like that even before I started messing around with it) was wondering if anyone else has the same issue?
