been reading the hypergear hiflow thread and the hypergear site. im interested in their turbo upgrade for rb25det with the G2 profile. has many people here used one if so what are your thoughts on it. im only looking at running betwee 450hp and 500hp+ what are your thoughts

Do you mean 450-500 engine hp? So 280-300rwkw?

First of all, I would be wary what profile people think they have as a G2 profile wont make over 270-280rwkw. Most people have the G3 profile which is similar to a 3076 in size so can make 280-310rwkw.

I have a G3 profile but in a standard compressor housing and am very happy.

the standard compressor housing is .63 right?

I think you mean exhaust housing. There are two different standard exhaust housings the R33 one and the OP6 one on the R34. Pretty sure its smaller than 0.63.

Mine has a larger 0.82 rear but with a standard compressor cover on the front.

I do think this is all answered in the Hypergear thread.

Just think about this. Whatever power a hypergear turbo will give you. A Garrett can do it a lot better, less lag and everything. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that "hypergear" talks up these turbos waaaay more than they deserve.

so how many Hks turbos do u own? because its all so been proven that hks do the same thing to garret but your not raging on them.

from what i have seen hypergear are very good for the money

What you talking about. Garrett make turbos for hks. I had a Garrett 3076r. And I've seen hypergears variant which gives the same power... with 1000rpm more lag. Clap clap

yes but under Hks blade designs . and you are not gonna try and tell me that hks don't spool better?

maybe this guy cant afford garret , much like u clearly cant afford HKS

Not true. They are almost identical, new ones with ceramic balls are even better. lol

Yawn, more turbo options for people with different budgets can only be a good thing. I will go call Garrett and see if they can make me a turbo that uses the standard compressor cover makes 280rwkw on 15.8psi and bolts straight up to my standard piping for just over $1k.

If your happy with your turbo enjoy it otherwise it just looks like you are upset with your choice.

I remember seeing your dyno sheet, there are some serious inconsistencies with your speed axis. The dyno shows it coming on boost way before any 3076 on this forum also the dyno stops at a speed that when you transfer to rpm comes out at 6,000rpm. I highly doubt the tuner stopped tuning at 6,000rpm. Dont believe everything you see on a dynosheet.

Possibly run in 3rd gear :)

Hypergears are good, well mines good, had a few problems here and there, but worked out well, been using mine on track and drifting , mines pulling 250kws on 17psi , very good power delivery where are you located? if you wana have a feel of my power pm me you can come past mine bro and il show ya

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Yup good one, well how come everyone elses GT3076s are so laggy in comparison then?

Also, could you please explain why the tuner would stop tuning at 6,000rpm? Surely something as good as a 'fkn garrett' could perform all the way till 7,000rpm?

    • Absolutely this. Yes, except not vacuum hose. Something oil/fuel safe is a better idea.
    • Like a Stagea, but not as cool! Hope you have enough garage space for this, or is something going to leave to make way for it?
    • The new project has arrived. I have wanted one of these for such a long time, well before that meathead Clarkson drove one in Africa. I really wanted an E34 but I have some medical issues that mean I *really* can't bump my head and the lack of airbags in the E34 made it just too big of a risk.  I don't know why I've always liked these older touring BMW's to be honest, but man I love this car. She's been pretty well maintained for her 243k's with what appears to be only a single oil leak at the oil filter housing gasket. It has a bunch of updates including later model bumper and headlights, 7 series billion-way adjustable seats and it came with a few spares and another set of wheels with legal tyres. I got a unregistered car permit from the RTA and drove it back from Canberra on Saturday.                   First cab off the rank is cleaning it up for blue slip. I dont know how picky they'll be but I figured I'd clean the headlights, fix the oil filter housing gasket, replace the speed sensors (throwing errors) and swap the OE wheels (the M Sport wheels have a big chunk out of one of the tyres.) I also need to replace all 6 gas struts - 2 for bonnet, 2 for hatch and 2 for hatch glass. The car tries to eat me whenever i open any of these. My plan for this car; Ultimately, this is a budget car. I can't afford to throw lots at it and its because I have another car that I got this, if something breaks its no big deal. I will just maintain and repair it really. But eventually I want to do a manual conversion. It actually looks pretty straight forward for E39's and the trickiest part will be sourcing the parts.  I do need to replace some suspension arms or bushes because wow, she's a floaty old girl. She's also fantastically slow. Like really, really slow. When pulling back out on to the freeway on Sat after a quick pull over I needed to wait until no cars were visible before going.  Oh, and the guy I bought it from had a gorgeous R31 GTS-X in the garage.
    • Do you have a picture? I assume it is a breather for gearbox oil as it expands, it should have a vacuum line run nice and high in the engine bay (R32 GTR has it on a top bellhousing bolt)
    • Hi all, I am putting an r33 gtst gearbox into a VL and have noticed what looks like a vacuum barb on the box (on top in the middle). Suspecting that it's a vacuum line but I'd like to double check, if someone could confirm the function of that would be great. Cheers in advance.
