It might be power for auto switching the mirror from day to night mine does. It also has a button to turn it off. Does yours have a button on it. Or some sort of light sensor on it.

I just noticed today that there is a small electrical cable running to the in cab rear vision mirror, but can't find any switches.

Whatsitfor???

I believe it feeds a small heater element in the mirror to act as a demister. The spec lists for many, particularly later model M35's list rear vision mirrors demisters as a standard feature. Whether that's internal or exterior mirrors, I can't say.

I think the Heater element might be the answer.

There is a switch under the mirror but it seems to be purely mechanical and I can,t see any sensors or switches to turn it on and off.

What stag. What size and offset are your rims?

its probably a wire for the factory security system. i have mine still on the car. i really should remove it!

did you get a key fob with a remote start function on it?

No remote start key. Just a keyless entry key.

I have remote start... and I have wires too... no friggin idea what they are for...?

Why would we have a heater element for an internal mirror?

Incase someone leaves their windows down on a frosty/winter night... I've done it ;):) Got in the car next morning inside windows and mirror frosted over haha
