Hi everyone,

I have just bought a brand new 2010 Nissan Dualis Ti last week for a practical daily car.

Specifications:

  • Engine: 2.0 litre, four cylinder
  • Power: 102kW @ 5200rpm
  • Torque: 198Nm @ 4400rpm
  • Induction: Naturally aspirated, multi-point injection
  • Transmission: CVT 6 speed automatic
  • Driven Wheels: Front
  • Brakes: Vented disc front, solid disc rear
  • Top Speed: Not available
  • 0-100km/h: 10.5 seconds
  • CO2 Emissions: 192g/km
  • Fuel Consumption: (ADR) 8.1 litres/100km
  • Fuel Tank Capacity: 65 litres
  • Fuel Type: 91RON
  • ANCAP Rating: Five stars
  • Airbags: Six
  • Safety: ABS, EBD, BA, TC, ESC
  • Spare Wheel: Full size steel
  • Suspension: MacPherson strut front, Independent multi-link rear
  • Cargo Capacity: 410 litres
  • Tow Capacity: 685 unbraked, 1400kg braked
  • Turning Circle: 10.6m
  • Warranty: 3 years/100,000km (With additional 3 years warranty package + X-Pack protection package)
  • Weight: 1450kg
  • Wheels: 18-inch alloy215/55R18

Plans for it are bigger wheels (21inch and above) and a bodykit/lipkit (Aftermarket or custom-made).

If there is anyone on SAU that has experience in modifying this type of cars, please share some thoughts as I have no idea yet on perfect rims size (Offsets) or bodykit types if there's any out there.

Thanks in advance. Will post up photos after I get it in early December.

Yeah, they are small. But 2010 model is bigger than the older ones.

I am sure you can fit a normal single pram in there (We bought the car with that in mind too). :P

What did you compare it to Victor?

And why did the Dualis Ti win out?

Hi Terry,

I compared it to older models of Nissan Dualis, prior to 2010 models. Prior models got 352 litres of cargo capacity compare to 2010's 410 litres, with back seats up.

Interior wise, it's just a little bit spacier. Exterior wise, it's a lot better looking with different headlights, grille, etc.

Are you happy with fuel consumption at 8.1?

What if it's fully loaded or with A/C going?

The best I can get out of the Forester on the hwy without engaging turbo, but with A/C is 9.9.

I haven't really compare Dualis's fuel consumption to other cars.

All I know at the moment is it is better than out-going models (8.2ltr/100kms). But from what I read on reports online, they do about 8.6ltr/100kms in a manual. So mine should be around that, as I got the 2WD, not AWD model which is rated more in fuel consumption.

I will post up after I drive around and see the outcome.

Fuel economy isn't one of Subaru's strong suits. Never has been.

My brother in law manages a Nissan dealership, and brought a Dualis up from NSW once on holidays. He was very unimpressed with its highway capabilities, and said it was very underpowered for the type of car it is. Hope the new ones are better.

Oh, 21" wheels? ;)

I think all Nissan Dualis (2007-2010) that come to Australia have the same engine which is 2.0-litre four cylinder engine (petrol only), and it makes 102kW at 5,200rpm and 198Nm of torque at 4400rpm. In UK, they are sold as Nissan Qashqai and they have choices in engines (1.6L petrol, 2.0L petrol, 1.5L diesel, 2.0L diesel). Yes, it is very underpowered for small SUV. It was a suitable choice for me as I don't want another large fuel consumption car for daily drive.

For the wheels, I am thinking either 20 inch or 21 inch as Dualis is not as big as Nissan Murano which is ok for 22 inch plus. I would like to know what offsets and width that would be perfect for the Dualis.

Hi everyone,

I will be picking up my Nissan Dualis on 8-12-10 (Wednesday) and I am very excited. I will post up photos as well.

Also, I want to know if there's any owners on SAU that has Nissan Dualis (or similar) as I want to learn and get more information of this type of car (concerning wheels package and bodykit/lip kit).

Thanks.

i wish Turbo X-trail had done done one of these up they have so much meaner stance than his tissue box on wheels..no offence TXT...But i have driven one and it felt like i was a kid that put wheels on dads empty Vb carton and was driving it around...

Dualis could actually look mean although 21 inch rims...you cant be serious...

That's ok, mate.

I wouldn't mind Nissan X-Trail. But we were in the market for brand new car and X-Trail was abit more expensive. So we decided to save that amount and go the Nissan Dualis.

And yes. I am serious with 21 inch rims, and possibly lower in the future. ;) Do you think 21 inch is too big?

looks wise i reckon the dualis kills the x-trail..will 21s fit?

Be interesting to see anyway.. ;)

Tissue box on wheels?

Geee, thanks. lol

P.s. I chose my x-trail because IMO it was the clear winner in the medium SUV market, and with coilovers and some decent ride height, it'll look more stagea/forester/legnum like. That's what I'm goin for anyway.

Yeah. I am keeping my fingers crossed in finding the right style and size. If not, I wouldn't mind 20 inch as well.

We will see how it goes.

Are you hinting to something there, Victor?

Haha, Rhys. Don't get me started on this again, mate. (You are like 5th person to ask me that kind of question. :P ).

Hi Cam, just want to say I like how you done up your X-Trail.

Like I said, I couldn't afford brand new X-Trail and do all the things I want to do later on. But I am happy with my Dualis. What coilovers and rims are you running on? Looks very nice.

    • Even with no BOV you will have issues unless the MAF is a hot film type like the R35 which has some design features to deal with reversion. Hot wire MAFs are very sensitive.
    • So i just change the (whatever is inside ma original MAF and slide the R34 MAF (it is gonna fit right in? ) and somewhere on the hot side a BoV...i presume that would be vented to the atmo? I just "trying" to understand...maybe my mechanic would know this   I would not mind(even prefer) to run stock BoV cuz it is way more than fine but i do not have that and only pipeing what is left is oem J pipe ... I will be running Blitz fmic(to fit oem one side style) and i gonna need custom pipes cuz i do not have rest of those pipes and hoses... But i am want standalone ECU. Only choice i have atm is Nistune...but that is not gonna cut it right?I dont know what Nistune can and cant do... I know you guys know Link and Haltech...but whatabout ECUmaster? I know guys in here run those but i literally do not know about that and do not know differences... Just know to take whatever "my" tuner can work on.
    • Is that the blue one rpm?
    • Update 2: Today I'm f**king pissed. Some of you probably saw my thread that I opened shortly after joining this forum, "urgently need expert/experienced opinion", in which I discussed the possibility of a porous RB26 engine block which I also found hard to believe. Currently both turbos are out since the shitty braided line that was installed by whoever fitted the GT28 turbos leaked oil onto the exhaust. Today while working on the cam covers to put new gaskets and half moons in, I cleaned the side of the engine block with brake cleaner. Some time later I saw that it was still glistening with oil or coolant so I dried that off. But it was wet again shortly after. Verdict: I'm royally screwed. What you can see here (hopefully, despite shit resolution), circled in red, is a crack above the turbo oil feed. Extent is a few cm long and basically goes from #3 cylinder wall to #4 cylinder wall. It slowly lets coolant through, even without any pressure behind it. I am absolutely dumbfounded as to how this crack even formed, especially since it isn't along the cylinder as it usually is but rather a horizontal crack. Probably a few cm in length. Not sure on how to deal with this issue right now. Most likely, the only true fix is a new engine block, and even a relatively well done temporary fix requires at least a full engine teardown. Neither of those really fit my timetable right now, the car has been in my buddy's garage long enough as it is. I'm open to suggestions, but I'll be looking into ordering a new 05U block soon so I have one ready for the coming year, or whenever the current block inevitably fails fully. (Most likely once the crack reaches one of the frost plugs) I think it'd be a waste of money and time to rebuild the engine with this block. Oh and I found a rust hole on the side pocket of the trunk, which someone covered up with sealant goop, a piece of number plate and bodywork filler. Fun times. So far for every issue we fix we just find a new one that is arguably worse.
    • I have not found this no. I put one back on a couple days ago with no drama. I agree they are tight, but no need to remove anything.
