As mentioned this is a thread for us all to discuss the ins and outs of our cockpits (haw haw).

I dont have a set up as of yet, but where as i know what wheel i'm getitng the just is still out on the mouting setup due to cost and space requirements,.

Anyone care to offer their opinion/rating on the own setup, in terms of cost and usability but also in regards to space and storage requirements.

I'll try and get some goods pics of my setup this weekend... its all home made by me and the neighbor with timber. Not exactly a cockpit setup tho - have a bucket seat on office chair legs and the wheel rig as a seperate unit so it'll be more space-friendly when packed away.

I have a hyperdrive and a DFP and and the wheel is good...the hyperdrive can be setup in a relatively good seat position but the seat itself is terrible and uncomfortable. I can't complain though as I picked up the DFP and hyperdrive for $70 together off ebay :)

so the gearstick was all fun and stuff with LFS on the pc... but in GT5 its not used at all.

I've very task-oriented in GT5... in LFS its a short drift session, beer, burnout, beer... ok now what.

so finally got off my ass & got some photo's of the rig. its not painted but honestly... i probably never will cuz i'm lazy.

All home built... haha easy to tell.

the pedals are secured to the base, yet still adjustable. Have put socket cap screws in the mounting holes on the base... and counter sunk some holes in the base to sit them in.

Back when I was doing helicopter pilot training about a decade ago I visited a training school with a pretty expensive setup. An old piston engined helicopter (Robinson R22 for those who know/care) with the pilots window taken out. They had a CRT monitor sitting on a shelf in the hole and had hooked up the helicopters controls to a PC running Microsoft flight SIM and other games. Was pretty dodgy but fun and made me start humming Ride of the Valkyries :whistling:

a friend of mine has his rig bolted to a timber saw horse with fold up metal legs. works surprisingly well, and fits neatly infront of his recliners. although the gearstick isnt in the best place then, but not bad for crap all cost, and is easily used again as a saw horse if need be :)
