Looking at putting a rb20det in the skyline i've just got. It's seems like the cheapest option and with a few mods will be able to put out reasonable power. I'm not lookig for a powerhouse but would like to be able to have a bit of fun as well. Was thinking around the range of 200-240 rwkw. Would this be a cheaper option or should i just save for a rb25det.I have read the forums about the install and some upgrades was just after some personal opinions and experiences.

hit up R31skylines site, plenty of conversion info there.

all RB gearboxes bolt up.

for 240rwkw youd probably want a RB25 gearbox.

RB25 is definitely a better option if affordable,

~200kw RB20

RB25 turbo ~$300

injectors, GTR with resistor pack or similar ~$400

adjutable cam gears ~$150

Bosch 040 fuel pump ~$200

ECU for tune, can get some cheap ones for 6-800 depending, which you wont need a ~$200 Z32 AFM

basically if you want 200 - 220rwkw, it's pretty doable with an rb20 without taking the head off the motor and rebuiling it

if you want 240rwkw you are better of looking at a rb25

so pick which end of your little range you'd prefer

Hit up R31 skyline club forum man. In the tech section there is 2 guides with pictures on how to do the job.

Yeah i've checked out that site some really good info

i have a vl commodore i just dropped a rb25det in it you can pick up rb25det half cuts between 2500 and 3000 i got mine with 87 000kms on clock for 2800. its got everything needed from gearbox to wiring loom. i have heard from a stock rb25det with a aftermarket ecu with a good tune you can you get to 220rwkw however the turbo wont last to long. im looking at getting a hypergear atr43 g3 profile turbo which bolts straight up to the OEM manifold and looking at roughly 270rwkw. im also running a microtech lt12s all up i have spent roughly 6k.

be prepared all engine conversions cost more then you think. i learnt the hard way. any questions just ask me seeing r31 is basicly the same as vl commodore in the drivetrain sense of things
