I haven't had cars that have done way-out figures like the ones above...

but I must admit that I've been so concerned about several cars getting close to 200,000km, so I'd sell them.

That mentality I guess, is a carry-over from my parents saying pearls of wisdom like...

"There comes a time when repairs can cost more than maintenance" (with me thinking of buying their own Fiat 2300)

"Don't buy other people's problems" (whilst looking at a Monaro)

"If you can afford to run it, you can afford to buy it" (when I considered a Jag XJ-S)

"You'll kill yourself" (when I had my heart set on a used MG-B as my first car > got a new Datto 1600 instead)

hahaha, good work done by your folks... Jag XJ-S nice car... know someone who has one that is pushing 600rwkw.

My old man used to have an old magna. That had done just over 40K before it started blowing smoke........lol......POS!!!

But seriously.....old nissan/Datsuns just go for ever. My mate had a 180b that had done over 400K. We used to flat change that thing no clutch all the time and just kept taking it. To the point when he bought a new car so we did all we could to kill the 180b to no avail. The gearbox finally gave way after endless 2nd gear limiter launches. Its funny....when you wanna blow an engine ya cant!

Nobody mentioned the Volvo P1800 that has done well over 2.6 million miles, not kilometers, miles.

Gordon has been the only owner of this P1800 since it was purchased new in 1966. A 125-mile round trip daily commute and a penchant for regular maintenance got the car this far, and in 1998 it made the Guinness Book of World Records at just 1.69 million miles.

well to put in a GTR a mate of mine bought his 32 GTR in japan in about 1993 or so and brought it into aus. he's owned it ever since and has done over 200,000kms on it. and that car is immaculate. I would consider buying it if he wanted to sell.

I'm pretty sure there was a Taxi driver in Greece who had a Mercedes for 20+years and it did something rediculous like 2 or 3 million KM's without ever needing an engine/drivetrain replacement.

As far as I know, Mercedes now have this specific Merc in their museum now....

Mate of mine had a 91 Toyota Camry 2.0L 4 cylinder, it done 550,000 Kms on the original engine and still going strong. In the end he traded it on a new car and the Toyota dealer kept it in the showroom to showcase Toyota's reliability.

Just park it on Parramatta Road, it'll have 45,000km in no time lol

i know of a few people who have had cars with the clock on their second time around the clock.

i had a commodore that was an ex company car. was 12 months old (almost to the day) when i got it and had 80,000kms on it. my sister in law used to drive from gympie to noosa and back everyday for work (about a 130km round trip). she used to have a liberty but as the kms started racking up she started having problems with it so got a vx commodore. it has been pretty much hassle free other than a problem with the fuel pump.

if i had to choose between an import with 400,000kms on it or a commodore/falcon with the same, i'd probably take the aussie car.

good choice, my prelude has 33*,*** on it and it's on its fourth engine..... srsly.

mind you i don't know if the speedo still works.

My old work ute a 3.2L V6 rodeo had 410000 HARD km on it put a clutch in it at bout 280 but that was it i had 1.3t of brick rubble on its back few times dragged over 1700kg of structural steel on a big twin axle trailer countless times it had close to a tonne of tools on it fulltime as im a boilermaker/plumber so 2 lots of trade tools basically . It drove perfectly didnt blow smoke idled perfect and still went like the clappers did lose a lil power before we got rid of it though :worship: But it was serviced every 5000km as those motors have small oil journals apparently and gum up easily :thumbsup: Was heavy on juice though lol

my daily is a daewoo 1.5i. currently has around 312,000kms still with the original engine and gearbox (mainly highway km's from what I'm told). had it for the past 4 years and still going strong lol. the interior on the other hand hasn't held up as well.

I bought a KE30 corolla off original owner that had full service history, receipts of purchase ($4700 Brand new for car)

(First service was $31, Oil was $2) lol. Had original plates and owner had paperwork of every time it clicked over which was 7 times and now on 54,000 so 754,000km and all original box which feels awesome lol and original motor.
