I seem to be dropping a cylinder but only after about 15mins of driving, im assuming it will either be the igniter module or a coil, im betting it will be a coil, it happened once and i drove it home, had to go out again so i left it, the next morning it started and ran fine for about 15mins then dropped a cylinder again, havnt done any testing yet but looking for other suggestions of things to check, turbo still boosts fine and apart from the one cylinder everything else seems to be good.

When it drops a cylinder 1 by 1 disconnect the coil packs till u diagnose which cylinder is misfiring. Then turn off and swap that coilpack with the next one. Restart and recheck if the same cylinder is misfiring or if the same coilpack is misfiring.

Friends car did the same, intermittant misfire. Ended up being the injectors connector to number 2 wasnt clipped in properly. Try isolate which cylinder it is, then check the spark plug. If very fuely you have a spark issue, if its pretty dry you have an injector/fuel issue..

As suspected it was a coil, luckily it was #1 so it was easy to get to and swap with #2.

Does any one know if GTR and GTST coils have a different spark quality, the ones in there now i was told are GTR and were better than GTST so if i just want to replace 1 i need to find a GTR one or a whole set of GTST (which would probably be the easiest any way).

Other options are:

1) yellow jackets $370 delivered

2) splitfires for $649 delivered

Been looking and still havn't found any bad feedback on the yellow jackets, any one have any bad stories about them? Also noticed that they have a 2 year warranty.

Nah i ordered them on the 7th of this month! It depends what postage and cover you pick i think. May have gone up now i havent checked the rate.

I'm assuming that postage is not added till you go through the checkout, I'm not signed up so I didn't get to the point where they add postage.

For $20ish Chuckies urethane seal coat is the no-brainer first step if you are having coil pack issues.

I'm assuming that his fix is for coils that have a spark getting out of the coil instead of going down to the spark plug, if this is the case and mine was doing this then I should have been zapped today when I was playing with the coil with the engine running but I wasn't so I'm assuming its just a worn out coil.

For a quick fix I'd recommend taking your coil out, take the rubber boot and the little spring off and clean the inside of where the spring sits with some steel wool till it is shiney again. Put it back together and see how you go. Costs $0 and it fixed my coils.

Gave it a clean when i swapped it with #2 coil, made no difference.
