you are right I don't have to, because financially and time wise there isn't a single reason why it makes sense.

swapping in a 25 each season would be cheaper, make more power and require less work. Or for the same amount of money and work you did you cold have just build an rb25/26/30 etc in the first place and had the best of both worlds.

Sentimental or situational reasons are a whole other kettle of fish.

I know why bcozican did what he did and he's got a rare little powerplant because of it.

Not all about money and time ay. If it was, our car shows/comps would be shit.

It's only a waste on a RB25DET due to the VCT, which advances the intake cam 10 degrees pre 4700 rpm or close to MBT.

I can see it being beneficial on a RB20DET which as no VCT. If you have some dyno time try getting the exhaust cam gear dial it back a few degrees and/or get an intake and advance it 1~2 degrees and overlap the power curve.

exactly i have dynoed tuned a few cars now that have "alleged" gained more power or response after cam gear installed elsewhere after my tune (as i wouldn't do it) BUT when it came back to check on my dyno it had made no appreciable difference to the run we did previous to it being installed and tuned elsewhere. Most of the time you can tell by the dyno graph (start point) if they have increased the ramp rate to make and "artificial" gain in response. Generally after around a $400-600 dollar spend on gears, fitting and tuning your better off going to the casino or giving it to charity.

RB26 yes rb20 (depends on setup) rb25 only on big stuff with cams.

Some people would describe this as the definition of stupid.

Being different is great when it results in something better, but being different for the sake of being different and ending up with something worse is just silly.

Very true mate.

But a stroked out rb20det is pretty much on par with an rb25det and because of his situation he's ended up with a fresh engine VS an old 25det.

If he had connections it may have been the better option.

I think we've deliberated this one enough though lol.

My point was it cost as much as a built 25/26/30. The block size doesn't magically make them cost less.

But I wasn't saying anything about bcozicans build being cheaper dude. I was just trying to offer some insight into why he may have chosen the path he did.
