Lost Part On Engine Swap. Possibly Earth Strap?

hi guys. need a bit of help please. i found the described part after the mechanics had mostly finished putting the motor in. and didnt know where it went or what exactly it was. its got a plug on one end to plug into something then a metal woven strap bour 20cm or so long the has abit to put bolt through and bolt up to something.

does anyone know where it would have come from and what it is and if its needed?

now its lost so wanna see if i need another one and also find out where it goes. was there one minute then it was gone. weird.

If its thick it goes from the bkock to the chassis near the alternator

on 33 it goes from turbo(eye terminal) to earth terminal on lh front strut tower(plug)

do i still need to use the bit i lost even though i have different turbo and manifold now?

i think it would be a good idea to have some sort of earth strap to your motor somewhere, on my car it goes from the negative battery terminal, to the chassis then bolts to the side of the block...

i still have the big round thick one that connects to the block. the one im talking about is a flat piece of woven metal with electrical plug on one end and other end has a bit to put a bolt through and attach somewhere.

Well then. As above it goes from exh mani heat shield ti the strut tower

ya. will it be ok without it now i have aftermarket turbo and manifold? or will i need to find it/find another one to replace the lost one and make it fit on somehow?

Just use a bit of Stereo amp wiring and bolt from the engine mount to the strut tower, but keep it away from heat.

id suggst yes have it because its a earth wire to stop electrical current shorting out something on the motor causing damage like above use stereo wire or some sort of automotive wire just dont go to thin no need for massive thick wire.

never had that strap on myne, never caused any issues. yes its a good idea to have it but its not essential
