OK first of all I am not desperate, but have had my car for sale for a few weeks now and have had only a few calls (with no one turning up to inspect). The car is reasonably priced for what it is and is in perfect condition. I am just surprised how difficult it seems to sell R34s in the current market. I would love the cash right now but I am not desperate. Should I just be holding out till after Xmas? How are others finding the market at present for Skylines?

My add is here btw:

AD

mate theres nothing wrong with your car or your ad. everything there is fine.....Another guy i know with a bargain 2.3l evo is having the same trouble, look at the bigger picture, rates rose not that long ago, its right before xmas so everyone is tight anyway and most people go away for a holiday around this time, its not a sellers market atm. Your car will sell im sure of that you may just have to wait for the new year to come around.

That is a nice looking R34 you have there, and since this is a Skyline Forum I will expect some flaming but a couple of reasons it hasn't sold YET are;

1. It is Christmas time. Not many people buy cars for Christmas and I dare say the people that do aren't in the market for a turbo Skyline.

2. You are asking $20k for a 12 year old turbo charged car with 100,000kms on the clock.

3. The amount of mods on it will have one of two effects on potential buyers - a) love all the work that has been done and will be prepared to pay for it and/or b) be wary of all the work done on it and think it has had a hard life being thrashed everywhere

As I said before, really nice looking car mate... definitely one of the nicer 34 GTt's I have seen (to my taste anyway).

Good luck with the sale :)

Hiya Bryce,

Your advert is very well presented I think.

At my age, I would have just written "...mature aged gent..." but what you wrote isn't a mistake by any means.

If you have a Carsales advert that says St George area, it can imply ownership by a person of a certain race (simply by stereotype); so where your ad gives out your mobile no., I'd put in your Christian Name, and then that stereotype is destroyed.

Christmas time is difficult to sell, but January is traditionally harder. There's a ready market for cars in flood affected areas (due to many cars being destroyed), but I'm not so sure about performance cars being high on their list.

Cheers

Thanks for the wise words (and compliments) all.

It will be a shame to let the girl go, but I do need the money. <waits patiently till the new year and ads 12 months more rego>
