Joel,

Try telling that to my bucket of bolts gearbox. Pretty much stock standard car just over 100,000k's and it sounds horrendous, like its on its last legs. From experience and listening to many many issues RB20 owners have had with them, its my belief the box isnt so tough.

Red17

I bought mine with 67,000km's on the clock (supposively) it had a really loud input shaft bearing noise when idling with the clutch out & would also whine through the gears.

I've driven it 60,000km's since then with ~160kw at the rear wheels, lots of second gear snapping & 4200rpm launches that hold me in front of a certian R33 GTR that launched at 5000rpm :P

Its hung in there with no problems.

Clint32 was making around 240rwkw, it was fine until he slapped a set of sticky tyres on it.

Do you really know what mods you car had previously?

My previous car was a 5L VS 5 Speed Commodore. The gearbox lasted around 6 months before blowing, then the diff went then the rear chassis where the diff bolts up snapped dropping the arse end on the ground with 45degree camber on the rear wheels.

So I think it is a tough gearbox compared to the Aussy cars of the same or similiar era.

It is starting to rattle a little when riding the clutch on take off (can be heard in Mc Donalds)

Generally the RB20t g/box's arn't that bad unless you run them low on oil or use wide sticky tyres with around 380-400hp at the flywheel.

hey Craved sorry i made a mistake i didnt get new gears he bought new syncros for me and had the modified every 2nd or 3rd tooth was taken off.i had my box stripped to see all the gears and if there was any damage, he told me for a 9 year old box, it looked almost brand new inside, no damage to any gears, the only problem was when i was in fifth it was very hard to gear down to forth,  but the new syncros fixed that up stright away, now going through the gears is much easier...

but i can give you the number of a place which can help you modify your box or basically do what you want to it
