OK guys..2 questions:

1) Is it advisable to use same size rims on the front and rear for V36? I'm talking about same size and width of the rims.

2) Also, does reducing the width of the front tyres to offset the effect wider rims work?

I know that the best setup advisable is staggered rims setup but there's not much option available for that setup from where i came from  ..and if possible..i want to install rims without messing up the car's VDC, ABS,TPMS (If possible) or whatever sensor it might affect.:/

What is the original wheels specifications?

1 thing I know for sure is if you stick close to the total rolling diameter of original wheels with your aftermarket one, the speedo won't be out that much. I wouldn't know about other sensors.

I have a NonSport V36 and just heard from a friend that NonSport version don't have Staggered Rim Setup as Sport. So i'm not sure if my rims are staggered or not now..i would at it later but for now..can someone confirm this? (Was confident my old V35 NonSport had staggered setup.. ). If that is the case though, then i won't have problem installing same size rims all aroud right?

However, does that mean that the ECU/sensors settings for Sport and NonSport V36 are different in terms of rims setup? i mean...would a NonSport V36 get the same benefit as a Sport if Staggered Rim setup was used (apart from physical benefit of wider tyres)??. If not, is there anyway to reprogram my NonSport V for using Staggered Rim Setup?

As for the wheels im currently looking at now.. its a 20inch 9 (Front) and 10.5 (Rear).

Really? I didn't know about that.

I pretty sure all V35 coupes (Premium or non-premium) comes with staggered rims, but V35 sedans don't. I just thought it would be the same for V36 coupes and sedans.

Anyhow, have you checked your tyre placard? It will show your standard/correct wheel size and specifications.

Good luck.

personally I'd trawl the US myg37 forums in particular their wheel & tyre section of the forums as a lot of guys have experimented with different rim sizes & offsets, heaps of them have "hellaflush" 20's.

The factory 19" enkeis the sport model uses are something like 19X8.5F & 19X9 (from memory) so nothing drastic in the staggered setup anyway

20X9F & 20X10R should clear even the sport model brakes so as long as rolling diameter is within spec you shouldn't have too many dramas

as for question number 2 ask a tyre shop about running different sizes as they can calculate the differences, imo running a skinnier tyre on the front is only reducing your car's overall contact patch for minimal (if any) beneficial effect but again just my opinion

    • Adjusting the idle screw is usually (emphasis on usually) just covering up deeper issues. Stuff like the cold start valve not closing properly. Throttle shaft seals on the way out. Coolant temp sensors getting out of spec. Coolant temp sensors especially can be a bear to diagnose because they can fail subtly. My dad just spent weeks chasing down his high idle. He cleaned the coolant temp sensor and everything but the resistance curve just drifts over time and if it's been 20+ years they also get super slow to respond as well. Has a massive effect on fuel economy as if it's off the ECU is going to run richer and command high idle for far longer than it should otherwise.
    • How old is the battery, it's more likely your battery is on its way out.
    • I reckon you'd get 90% off. My washer doesn't get between spokes very well. Haha! I love my Gerni!  Argh! Steam cleaning has its place for sure.
    • Hey all, I did a voltage test with the car (video attached) not running for 3 days. And here is some interesting stuff: - Battery voltage is 12v (I had the key in the ON position) - Drops to 9.76v while cranking then quickly goes up to 14.5v - You will notice there was a sorta slow start but not as slow as it usually is. - Idle surprisingly was better at just over 1,000rpm instead of 1,100 rpm. - I turned on the A/C, radio and headlights in the video and the voltage remains the same - I haven't cleaned the grounding wires on the chassis yet, that's next. - Battery drops to 12.6v when I turn off the car and wait a bit Seems like I might have a parasitic draw? I do have an immobiliser system which does drain the battery more of course but was wondering if there is anything else I should be looking at fixing? Does the ground wires on the chassis have anything to do with the low 12v?        SAU.avi
    • My lord that is some low oil pressure as minimum in the manual! I guess the big part will be seeing how it changes as the engine gets more spirited use.
