Point is it is a downgrade from the stock ecu and there is no good reason to buy or use one.

you can get them to work fine with air-con, i had one on my WRX in 1999 with a Gt30 etc , before they did flash tunes, I had one on my r31 with air-con, both drove like stock actually

a good tuner can get a decent result from them

cheers

exactly mine is fine cold starts sits at 1200rpm warms up and drops down to 880rpm everytime no problem. drives like normal starts fine works fine with my VCT and i dont have to worry about upgrading afm as it does not use one. do you really think all the vl guys and a hell of alot of drag cars use them because they are no good. yes they may not be as good as a PFC and has no where near the amount of features the PFC has but im happy it does the job fine and i got it pretty cheap off a mate who took it off his VLT before he sold it and bought a skyline. maybe one day ill remove it and get something better but until then im happy with it and lets drop the hatred towards the microtechs.

Ah well... To be honest I think most microtech users would be like us. Happy with what the machine does as the end user can hardly tell the difference.

Sort of like a 80 year old that gets an iphone on their grand childs recommendation... The chances the 80 year old will do much beyond answering it when it rings and try to make a call on the odd occasion will be slim. No offence but this would fit the bill for over 80 percent of users on this forum when put into context, it fits my bill and I dont even consider myself an entry level user.

Moving on, this is the Kando thread not the Microtech thread. Back to Kando!

LOL @ microleb!!!!!!!!!

i said it a few pages back but here it is again,

ideal setup for a RB25 would be TD06SL2-20g (10cm) with stock manifold (either weld 40 or 44mm ext gate to manifold or onto rear housing)and it will be kept low mount and sorta stock-ish looking, no need to fork out $1000+ for a top mount manifold.

can either run screamer to atmo or plumb back to the dump/front pipe.

this setup would be the most cost effective and stock-ish looking for at least 280rwkw+

i will be changing to this setup next year at tax time. hopefully my twin turbos will last until then but at the rate its going, i think the turbo seals are going again (only replaced the turbos with 2nd hand units 2 months ago as well :( unless i find decently priced HKS GT-SS or -7/-9s for under $1600 but at this stage, the kando setup is looking very favourable).

This is real confusing I'm looking at the td06l2-20g for my rb25 however stao has been trying to sell me one of his turbos I think by saying that the td06l2 is not a big power maker and nit very responsive I know if your looking for a straight turbo swap for streeter HG is the way to go. Do you think this is true or is stao just trying to sell me one of his units

Well for a kando turbo you need to customise some piping for an external wastegate. Whereas the Hypergear turbo will bolt straight in as its internally gated.

Then you just need to compare the turbo results, this will vary on which turbo of each variety you choose. I have not seen many td06l2-20g results on rb25s so that might be hard. Whereas there are tonnes of Hypergear results to look at.

Obviously Tao is trying to sell you a turbo hes not a charity but I think for sub 300rwkw with the standard manifold, bang for buck is pretty bloody hard to beat.

Let me set something straight...... As much as I respect Stao and his products, saying the TD06SL2 is not a good power maker is total GARBAGE.

For the 11ty billionth time THE T67 AND TD06SL2 ARE THE SAME TURBINE WHEEL....... Meaning Simons 10cm T67 turbine and housing is the exact same turbine and housing you will get on a TD06SL2 10cm.

The difference between the T67 and TD06SL2 is the shaft diameter. The T67 is a TD07 and the TD06SL2 is a.......... TD06! Dont be confused, TRUST used the TD07 shaft with the 'TD06SL2' wheel so they could mate it to a 25G compressor, because the 25G is a TD07 sized compressor.

As for response, a little SR20 will get an SL2 20g on full song before 4000rpm and top out around 300kw. Trent (STATUS) has even shown an SR spooling a 10cm TD06SL2 20g as good as a GT2871R (HKS GTRS).

Ive said it before and I will say it again, if Simon can make something close to the 400kw zone out of the SL2 turbine and 10cm housing, I highly doubt the little 20g compressor will have any heat or restriction problems pumping through the same turbine and housing. The Hypergear stuff is good, but it gets hot. For my daily driver and occasional drag machine I would definitely get a HG. For my weekend warrior and track weapon (I mean part time track) I would get the Kando every time.

Just match it to the Tial 44mm gate and your laughing.

stop confusing people with your knowledge Scott :P

this..

SL2 has a smaller compressor making it a better fit when low mounting..in theory it should also make it more responsive...

Is all you really to know ;)

theres a few youtube videos of a ceffie in thailand or singapore or something with a RB25 running a TD06 20G i believe.

seems to go pretty good and very responsive but no dyno sheets.

obviously in japan there will be more results but not much in the case of dyno sheets etc.

I've asked Trent on numerous occasions to post up some results of the TD06 on a RB25 but looks like he may of missed those posts in this thread.

didn't Dr-Drift run a TD06-20G on his R32 RB25 and it made over 300rwkw or so.

Perhaps there is a sheet of it floating around somewhere on the net.

Ok, so took the taxi out to calder for the drags... car has been retune to the tune of 305 rwkw!

Best ET was 12.0 @ 122 mph with a 2.6 60' and sever lack of traction!

I wouldnt go off those results, they dont seem to be doing their thing...

Roy has proved the 20g to be the goods too. It gets up and boogies the way we would like it to and all on a little RB20.

FYI there are more abundant 1JZ 20g results.

LOL Shutup Dave, hurry up and get your 20g on, dont make me come down there and repair mustang sally with a sledge hammer and some beer. Do as I say. DO AS I SSSSSAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

odd that it had such big boost drop though.. Gate too big maybe?

Or just too chinese...

eD..mustang sally is up and running man, just needs a new windscreen..

Im waiting on scott to weld the housing and hes waiting on me to buy a gate..:D

Nah it doesnt seem too bad, but gate selection could probably compensate for it as you said.

The problem is more likely to be its running an 8cm housing, the 10cm housing was some sort of mythical creature before Kando came along and I highly doubt his copy was a 10cm job. I rekon theres a chance the 8cm might bring the 20g on so early it climaxes before the motor comes into its natural powerband that it just hinders the whole final output like that.

Scott, can you put up some dyno results with the 20g on a 1jz :)

Just youtube 1JZ 20G mate, there are a lot out of japland. As you know Japan doesnt have the forum base we do for tuning.

Isnt that graph in hp?

Based on my experience of my car on his dyno makes a lot more sense then the claim of 305rwkws.

The below is my car on an old 235rwkws Racepace tune that equaled about 244rwkws on his dyno. Not long after this I went back to Racepace and we leaned on the tune a little more with 100ron and made a comfortable 260rwkws (track tune) So Based on finding 25rwkws on the Racepace dyno lets call it 245+25rwkws on Dr Drifts dyno....so about 270rwkws

    • Hey guys. I have a 400R on its way to Australia from Japan currently and have a few questions I’m hoping others may be able to help with.   Wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting the Sat nav unit to work in Australia!? Assuming the Stereo is as simple as a band expanded and tv won’t work?  Seeing as they’re based off a Q50 which is Aus delivered is there any way to link that system to the nav? Nav modules and head unit are different part numbers and appear slightly different at the rear with plug ins etc. can I put my xtrail sd card into the rv37 and will that convert the maps or update to Australian? Has anyone got any advice here?     also has anyone fitted the factory remote start and Security system once it’s landed in Australia? I put an enquirey to Nissan Japan in via a third party, and they suggested it needs a Nissan Japan dealers device to setup and couldn’t guarantee if one here could do it or not. They can supply and I can physically fit it but to setup I would need a dealers device. Any information here would be appreciated also. I’ve seen one here with it fitted already prior to leaving Japan at a dealer/inporter, so clearly passes compliance and works when fitted Japan and doesn’t need changing here.      also, does the tyre inflation sensors work here? Does anything change with them when the vehicle arrives? Where are they actually situated? I’ve read they have batteries and they need to changing at times and seems like resetting involves the nav system?    any help here would be appreciated and any other aust specific information to help would be great. Looking forward to see what the current generation skyline is like and eager to see how many of the gadgets can be utilised here.  Thanks in advance
    • Do need to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the adapter failures, they clearly had setup issues with the flywheel.  One of the slipping ones I spoke to and it was pretty clear the throwout was riding, rather than fix, just swapped to a new clutch.    These clutches are being put in anything from 5k offroad 4x4 beaters, GR yaris, 500hp commodores to 1200hp barra monsters. Bound to be some issues in some of them when they are not a simple bolt in affair due to the changes in height.    There is a lot going on in this picture and unless I did the job myself no way to tell what really happened.
    • I did this mod in 2019  You just have to modify the top bracket of the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU so it sits more upright and closer to the back seat and run a good quality positive battery lead from the engine bay, the negative lead i just bolted down to the body in the boot.
    • Damn... Not the feedback I want to hear.
