he did get it tuned

it did something like 260kw on 17psi and he said it went like a shower of shit compared to his previous GT30 based setup. he was real happy and i last remember he was planning to retune to more boost and see over 300.

you dudes need to stop being so fanboi and actually read the damn thread lol, i have read nearly every turbo thread on this site from start to end.

DO THE SAME :domokun:

No offence intended

Ur pretty clever arent you, the dynos the only way to compare them right, smart-ass? If you were just a bit more smart then you would see in my first sentence that i mentioned 'after reading both threads..'- hence how I compared them, whether right or wrong, thats for anyone to decide and debate as thats what forums are about..seeing as dynos dont really define what it FEELS like to drive.

pretty much..unless you drove them...no point comparing what one person says something feels like lol, it all relative, you go from 200-300 it feels fast, to someone with 400

it feels slow, and so on and so on...but you knew that..do you realise the difference E85 makes to area under the curve power wise, versus 98 octane?, not just peak?

and your comparing...

lol, not long ago we needed C16 or Q16 (roo)to get those results...

Quit while you behind

i did read thats why i said what happened to him cause he said he was gonna cmoe back after he retunes and chasing more? lol

who wants to try this?

slightly bigger then td06sl2 so will get same response, but more power and smaller then a t67-25g.

that was with a lot of problems though from memory ....not really sorted out, has been a while as i remember it was the only 98 octane tuneup, unless STATUS would be kind

enough to post all the 98 octane dyno sheets he had one day, that would make the thread interesting

cheers

If you so insist, I got the comparison also from a couple of trusted guys who have tried both Kandos and HGs on similarly setup RB25 cars a few times, and hence also got good solid feedback on what to expect with either.. And where does the E85/ area under curve mumbo come from, are you trying to be a bigger keyboard hero by stating 'technical' stuff that even Joe Blow knows?? >_<

E85 or ethanol based fuel like eflex have great knock resistance. This means you can pump more timing into the thing everywhere on the map, more timing down low means more torque and the graph stands up earlier.

Ethanol based fuel will make any turbo look more responsive on the dyno, you will be able to tune it harder where it counts and your area under the curve will be awesome.

Most of us that follow this thread generally have a firm understanding of what the product is and how it works, we are generally looking at the finer details to how something opperates rather than the base figures. You are getting a flaming because you are somehow interested in these turbos without a firm understanding of how the setup works nor taking them for anything but face value. Let me break it down for you:

T67 vs ATR43 G3 - Both will see over 300kw, both are proven. Both will do what a 3076 does on paper in a roundabout way. The G3 does it in the simplest way possible (cheaply bolts on), the T67 does it in a complicated labour intensive way. In the end you come out with something that is not borderlining with restrictions and sort of 'pisses it in' with the T67, and you come out again with the same thing with a G3 but it cost you a LOT less hassle.

Have you read the 10 second GTST thread? Why do you want a 10 second GTST just to run it once and daily it forever more? Because the owner just wants to know he has a 10 second GTST......... In this case us morons have a similar excuse for being involved in the developement of these turbos.

For gods sake... Hypergear has nearly perfected the art of making turbos that do spastic delivery at XYZ killawasps, why not just do him the justice of buying one. You will not know the difference, as there simply is not one for you.

Not convincing enough Scot! I think you have tried about 3 times to push me towards HG turbos, for god knows what reason I have no idea at all.. Yep i have read the 10sec GTST, HG and a good bit of the Kando thread, so guess I will stick with and follow this Kando one and see how it goes... Call it the Kinugawa Jinx..

You are very lost....

... for god knows what reason I have no idea at all..

Not taking the mickey or taking shots. But I think the answer to that question is quite clear. He feels the HG turbos are the clear choice for your desired power and bolt on requirements. Seems pretty open and shut given that the Kando internal gate turebos have a very poor internal wastegate design.

Have a look at this pic...

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kinugawa-Turbo-Turbine-Housing-TE06H-TD06SH-TD06H-T3-8cm-Internal-Gate-/270877815362?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f11937242#ht_2092wt_1139

See inside where the dump pipe bolts to, inside you see an opening? Thats where the wastegate gases have to vent into when the IG opens. So the air has to immediately turn 90 degrees, travel 1 inch then turn another 90deg and merge with all the gases coming out of the turbine and into your dump pipe. This causes lots of back pressure and poor flow which ultimately effects how well burnt gases exit the combustion chamber and how well they make power.

Now look at this arrangment, which is more typical of IG housings

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Turbine-Housing-TRUSTs-T518Z-TD05H-TD05H-18G-SR20DET-8cm-/280790572009?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item41606c1be9#ht_1895wt_1270

When the IG flap opens the air is free to run into the dump pipe, be it split type or bellmouth type. The flow is travelling parallel with the turbine gases and generally offers very good performance.

That is the general thinking of why people are sayign avoid the IG Kando turbos as without even looking at dyno sheets etc you can see how compromised they are in the housings

Thanks heaps Roy, you have explained better than anyone else WHY the Kando IG turbos are not the greatest to have and why its inferior to typ IG setups, I have been all set to go an EG Kando setup from sometime back, and then yesterday some guy goes that hes goin to try the IG Kando setup and Im like I will wait to see if its good, then I will follow, but after your really good explanation above, I will stick to my EG Kando prospect...kudos!!

ive got myself a pair of these td06sl2-25g with 4in compressor covers these are rated for alot more hp with the 25g wheels and the bigger covers so im hoping these will get me over 500rwkw's on my 2j............opinions?

and eiji has put these rear housings on it for us instead of the 10cm jobs make it more streetable........i think with 10cm rears would make it a lag monster

    • I clean my wheels every time I was the car, I also clean the barrels, the only product I use on the wheels is truck wash, followed by wash and wax, cleaning the barrels is easy with one of these microfibre thingies on a stick from Sabco, there also great for getting in between the front guards and body, and tight spots in the engine bay ย
    • An updated post here. Sounds to me like there's definitely a bit of sketchiness here.ย  Old mate with 10 rusting Torana's in the front yard might be more who they're focussed on. (For right or wrong).
    • Is this not just about people wrecking, and storing, multiple cars in their front yard? I now a tow truck driver that was contracted by the council to clean up housing commission front and rear yards in houses and unit car parks I'm all for working on, and doing maintenance on your car in your garage or driveway, but some people definitely take the pissย  There's one house locally to me that I walk past regularly where the front yard and driveway looks like a wreckers, multiple cars in various stages of being stripped, and the yard looks like all of fluids are basically dumped on the ground I may be wrong, but it seems that the initial reports, which I've seen nothing actually official about yet, may be getting taken out of context, like alot of the latest "the sky is falling" stuff found on the youtubes for clicks
    • have they? Link appreciated. I live in Casey. I can see both sides of the argument in this case. There's a lot of sketchy stuff going on. There needs to be a clear definition of what this is supposed to be IMO. I wager the intent was to be a broad sweeping brush against people who have 4 cars up on blocks on their front lawn, not someone who services their own car behind their own gate on a weekend bothering probably nobody. But it'd be hard to legislate the difference there.
    • Oh, the wheels were already off. I wouldn't normally take them off to clean them although it does make it easier with the ceramic, so I might take them off when reapplying. I don't drive much but now with the ceramic coat, when I do drive and they get dirty I can get most off with the pressure washer. I'll be switching to dirtier pads soon which was the motivation for the ceramic as I usually just clean them and sometimes use Autoglym wheel protector. Nah, f**k the barrels! Haha, I'll give them a quick scrub when they're off the car and a pressure wash, but even I draw the line with the barrels. Yes, dark coloured wheels allow you to get away with a lot! ย
