I'm hoping someone here will be able to give me some advice. I know its a Skyline based thread but information on these with use on a rotor is very limited to non existent.

I have a FD3S (13B-REW) and the twins are very much on the way out. I have been looking at one of these as a potential single option.

I have it down to the following -

T67-25G 10cm

or

TD06H-25G 12cm

Being a rotor I am leaning more toward the TD06H as it has the bigger rear. Looking at the TD06 kits Trust supply they seem to use a 16cm rear.

the goal for the car isn't massive power, it currently makes about 300-310rwhp with the twins in non-sequential setup (fairly laggy). I guess I'd like a little more power. Say aiming for 380-400hp?

Some thoughts on the above?

i be looking at a holset hx35 or hx40 for a rotor can pick them up for under $750 brand new.................ive used one on a vn commy was a bloody good turbo good for 30psi no problems..........few guys are running them on 2j's getting good results

or check out the kando t04r range of turbo's..........i be running a a/r 1.00 min for a 13b

http://www.ebay.com....=item43abdbaba8

or a turbonetics hurricane for $950

Anti-Surge Cover

Or

3" Cover

The anti-surge compressor turbo has a slightly different turbine. 11 blade Inconel Wheel

The plain 3" cover is dimensionally similar but 12 blade. I think I will go the 12 blade plain comp cover unless some turbo guru tells me otherwise. Is the 11 blade wheel the TD05 version of the L2 TD06 wheel?

I have emailed him again but may just order if i dont hear from him.

Peoples thoughts on the11 blade turbine vs 12 blade?

yeah i emailed on Xmas and he responded on Boxing day.

my turbo should be here shortly so cant wait.

gate arrived yesterday, and car is booked in the shop in 2wks for fitting and tune in 4!

What turbo and gate did you get? and what Manifold you putting it onto?

I'm still looking at a T67 25G for 300rwkw on 98 or go E85 for more power (we all want more so don't want to do it twice).

SimonR32 have you had any issues running the stock engine at 350rwkw? Value float? ect???

Anyone out there wanting to try an internal gate TD05-18G on their RB20, and worried about boost control. It looks like I will have my rear housing left over from when I throw my Trust rear housing on it. So if you find you are having boost control we can mill out my spare one to see if it improves boost control, power and response like i suspect it will

It all comes down to your goals mate. Be it myself I would probably go a T67.

IMHO It will go like a shower of shit. Probably hit peak torque very early and wont need to rev it very hard, however without E85 I dont see it doing over 350kw (as a sheer maximum, it may not actually hit that either).

My second option would be the TD06H-82 hybrid (3582 compressor on TD06H rear). My guess is that this combo will be something like a 'GT3282' or 'GT3240'. My guess would have it more responsive than an actual 35R with a similar power threshold. I would love to see this one in action.

Yeah I'm really torn between how I should go forward. It's a fully built Neo Rb3025 with 260deg cams. I drive the car to work every day so it can't be too much of a dog. The 1 thing that is really holding me back from going either turbo is the fact that I really really don't wanna have to go buy a new exh manifold and down pipe, external gate etc. That got old fast the last time I had to do that.

I think the T67 would be absolutly mental on a rb30 like you said. but whether its an upgrade to the 3576 thats already on it I don't know. The other stupid option that I have is a brand new Scannia T4 GT3782 that I have sitting on my shelf gathering dust, but its just so damn heavy that it would need a very custom manifold to make it work. And then it's potentially no better than a 3582 other than it being free.

Why dont you ask Stao to rework your 3576?

Im guessing its a highflowed 2IU..... Ask him to fit the CHRA into G3 housings, that will probably turn it into a phsyco performer and it will MOSTLY bolt back on (bar the front housing).

One other turbo I would love to see on an RB30 is an actual G3 from HG.. I think that would go pretty well. Its probably similar in construction to Kando's 35R T04R concoction, but will bolt back in to your mostly stock outfit.

Yet honestly, if its a fully built cammy RB30, put a nice turbo on it (with the gate/manifold to match)

TD06SL2-20G 10cm, Tial WG44mm, stock manifold modded for ext gate on 98octane, no E85 here.

I am aiming for 270+ which should satisfy me. i hope it does, otherwise if i get bored, ill whack in a T67-25G and go top mount lol.

SimonR32, what issues are you having with cooler pipes, them blowing off? lol

My silicon bend off the compressor housing sits close to the exhaust manifold and gets a bit warm. It ended up bursting at power cruise and then since then the new one blows off and f**ks around all the time. It was really a bit of a slap job to begin with.

I'm now welding an ally elbow to the compressor housing and redoing some of the hot side piping

G3 similiar in what way to kando 35r to4r?

Everything they have is to small for a rotor, unless you buy something and then get a exhaust housing from somewhere else to suit a rotary requirements, eg a T3 1.06 housing for a 3582, or a 1.15 splitpulse housing for anything T04 based.

The 3540/66 might be alright with splitpulse 1.00, but really its a lot of turbo, better of going a little smaller and bigger A/R on the exhaust.

Probally want a 60 ish mm compressor and P trim rear on a 1.15 To4 splitpulse , but ausrotary probally your best bet for info.

think a 3582 on a 1.06 T3 will do that with best response from my very hazy memory

I cant give away Stao's secret recipes as my own but I have discussed many options with him and built a firm understanding of a few of his products. This is one of the reasons I tend to recommend his products more often nowadays, with understanding came appreciation. He tries many of the concepts I think of myself, good entrepreneurship.

The 35R/T04R is the combo of a high speed high flow turbine with a low speed high flow compressor. The 35 rear should spin up fairly quick and drive the compressor to deliver a fair amount earlier than expected. Normally the downside to that is that you will max out the rear side, but a GT35 turbine is not exactly small, and neither is a 1.00 T4 TS rear housing.

Stao uses a similar hypothesis for his G3, a big low speed compressor mated to a turbine that would get high shaft speed for the compressors given equivalent. He combats maxing out compressor too early by having a fat exhaust housing and the use of a high flow turbine.

Its all balance, remember that the turbine and compressor are mated to the same shaft. So consider the flow input to the turbine governs the shaft speed and the shaft speed governs the compressor output flow. A gap in technologies allows for easy highlows.

A good example of this is the $200 highflow thread in the FI section sticky, the guy put a T04 compressor on a 2IU and tinkered with it until it was stable. It would more or less max out a 500hp compressor too early and make a stout 250kw out of the stock 2IU turbine wheel and housing. This is because the tiny 2IU turbine spooled up the T04 compressor too early and it would max out quick. The theory above is that you apply fast spinning technology to the turbine and slow spinning technology to the compressor for a similar effect, but because your using a fat turbine you dont max out as easy.

All good in theory but maybe hard to perfect, Im sure all that trial and error Stao does is not for nothing.

I have my gauges all part except the needle itself. the needle has a extremely small hole in the center, but the shaft going to the needle is extremely small and appears to have nothing to index it either. doesn't seem strong enough to simple pry or pull without damaging something. Already tried the old spoon trick on a extra triple meter I have from a gtt, but no luck. the center cap comes off easily but the hole in the meter face plate aren't big enough to get over the needle itself. figured this would be my best place to find someone who might have actually removed theirs. wonder if there is some type of small pin press tool to push the pin in while pulling the needle base off.
