I found one big house about 50 times...Some patriotic rich pricks owned it, had a f**king 4 million dollar flag stuck in the roof...everytime we went around the roundabout there it was again..so we tried a different roundabout and BANG!!!...it was still there...

this is always funny though

HAHAHAHA that describes my first time in Canberra perfectly!

Did you end up swapping in a new clutch?

I only passed through Canberra to buy fireworks, of which I found none. The highlight for me was an IGA store. Cool war museum I guess, and yes, if you're ever lost, just look for the flag.

Jez man just smash that POS housing with a big hammer, tell em to stop wasting your time and not to come back till its built properly...

its a mate of mine, but i honesty told him to put the stock turbo back on until he gets a different turbo. I am hating his setup. But maybe once the external is on it will be half ok

Does this guy ever f**ken sleep?

Mate its a public holiday get the f**k to bed I would be if I didnt work at a fricken hotel

4 days off and i wake up with a killer headcold damnit...

its a mate of mine,

even better that way you know he'll forgive you for smashing his car with a hammer..

But seriously, Is it even the wastegate flapper causing the issue, it may just be the flowpath to the gate itself is rubbish.

Also doesn't putting an external gate on completely defeat the purpose of putting an internal gate on anyway..

Its 150$ for a housing...weld a pipe on it for a gate and enjoy the awesome.....

This is BSA's old car which has never been rego'd in NSW, so he went with internal gate to get it passed for a blue slip.

This internal gate housing has been modified so the flow path is good, it flows like a nornal 5 bolt rear housing, but now the bush is farked and is extremely hard to move

Haven't visited since about page 102, good to see this thread is still powering on...

Not building a 26 anymore for my S13- had too many block issues, so gone in a massively different direction and bought a VQ35HR last week - will be adding 2xTD0518G's instead :woot:

Bought the Kando's last week as well- should be interesting. I like that fact that i can change housing's and wheels to suit my engine relatively cheaply so really looking forward to seeing how it pans out.

Engine won't arrive for at least 2 weeks, gearbox departs the US next week along with a bunch of other bits.

Not chasing big power, but looking forward to seeing how the torque arrives, will be also changing dif gearing to suit the ratio's of the Z gearbox...

It's a shame you bought the wrong VQ to turbo Simonster, the 3.5 has weak rods to help with the 8k rev limit, you will have to rebuild the sucker first unfortunately (unless you are happy with 4-5psi?)

The factory turbo engines are the ones to go for, the VQ30det's are the cheapest option and with no adjustable cams they are the easiest to get running. I believe they may have Nistune working on the stock ecu too. This engine should be good for 400-450wkw unopened.

come on mate suck it up, they cant be that weak

dont be eating 1L of jelly now will you

Since researching the build I was going to do, the 3.5L is looking weaker than ever. Nothing to do with capacity mate, my 2.5 can be sleeved out to 4.3L fairly easily. Just letting Simon know that a $1200 stock 3L engine will be much stronger than the 3.5 he is getting and will actually handle the power of twin TD05's.

I made the same error, I have a 3.5 here I wont be using unless I can come up with 4-5k for a rebuild.

I found you even here Scotty! The VQ35HR actually has beefer rods than a DE. There are stock DE motors running around with 12psi in them. HR won't take as much because the CR is even higher (10.6:1 I think). Its all down to tuning IMO. The HR that destructed in Melb lately, I don't think was tuned all that well. There are tricks that I have been learning from people overseas as to the tuning of these.

I do agree with you - a VQ30det would have been better for his end use. And much easier to get working. But this is a bit off topic!

Just did a quick half hour tune. Havent turned the bleed valve up yet, this is with NO VTC.

Running new Tial mvr gate.

Stopped tuning due to a squeel from an injector seal under boost. Will check it out over the weekend.

looking good, holding boost well and still got at least 5psi left in it..power looks to flatten out a bit at 6500, thats on e85 yeah?..

turning out to be a great little turbo isnt it...what once was a skeptical "should make 280kw" is now a "smashing 300kw"...

picking up clutch tomorrow :D

Noticed they have nothing on eBay atm?

you searched kando didnt you..try search Kinugawa

    • All I can say Duncan is good luck and I hope that Neil did not run any E85 in Cheryl. I have recently experienced the full spectrum of fuel tank issues in my R33's that had been caused by E85 and contaminated fuel. When you take the cover off the top of the tank and have a look inside you will get an understanding of how easy it will be. Best case situation is clean fuel with minimal contamination. My GTR was like this and it was a very simple operation to just grab the fuel pump carrier bracket and slide it up and out of the tank. My three GTS_T's had different levels of fuel contamination that was probably caused by E85 in the fuel.  In the worst case all of the metal components in the tank had rusted to the point where there were pieces of rusted metal swirling around in the tank. This required the removal of the exhaust, the tailshaft, the complete rear cradle and the fuel tank. The components in the tank were that rusted that it took days to get the fuel pump carrier and the mounting brackets out of the tank. When the tank was finally cleaned, everything inside the tank had to be replaced. With the tank all back together I could then reinstall it in the car along with everything else that had to come out. Good luck and I hope that you find a clean tank.
    • It is a two door. It is black and also still has the OEM wheels and stereo. Exact model would be KR_R32RGFEL_SS According to GTR-Registry.com is a 2 Door Coupe; RB20DE; 2WD no HICAS; MT.F5; (11L) Projector Headlamps and Fog Lights; (12_) Electronic Active Full Auto Air Con (Climate Control); (13-14SS) V Selection -- Which seems to be accurate description of my variant. Will try to upload a few pictures soon. The OEM wheels look like the below image. Image is taken from the goo-net-exchange website.

    • Welcome Gabriel. At least your car has a glorious RB and not the shitty CA18. As MBS206 mentioned all the good bits can be added later. Two doors or four?
    • And half of them have been converted to turbos.
