I have one of those at home but am yet to use it. I will update that in a few weeks if you can wait.

Its actually a 2 port actuator, just ask Eiji for a second nipple as the thread is there.

You can undo the top and rotate it, yes.

It's a good quality item from what I can see. No issues from me.

Did you get around to fitting it yet? I still havent bought one yet, but probably will later today.

And can someone please confirm that one of these:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=281016579897#ht_1998wt_1414

will definitely fit a GTX3071R? It is also A/R 0.60 so I'm sure it will fit but just want to make sure!

Thanks

Hey mate,

I was meant to install on Saturday yet the weather (and my own build) got in the way

I have had word of mouth that they work well though, I think Stao also experimented with one from the same MFG and states it works well and is a versatile item. Can be preloaded better etc.

Re fitting to your GTX, the front cover on the GTX71 is the same size as the regular .60 3076(3037) cover which is pictured on the add. So it will fit with that dogleg shaped bracket. No concerns.

Thanks mate :)

One more question - you mentioned earlier its a dual port actuator, are you sure the one I'm looking at (link above) is a dual port one as I cant see the second port?

And if it is, does Eiji just block the second port by default, and you need to request the nipple if you want to use it? I'm wondering if its worthwhile using the second port?

In the photo from the front of the 3037 you can see there is a squarer area pointing downward on the lower part of the canister. That has a flat surface with a threaded hole in it, which accepts the same nipple which is on the upper part of the canister.

I doubt they would make two of them, but not advertise them differently. They only advertise one kind :)

The second port is not blocked, its just open. It doesnt effect the way the top port works because it puts pressure on the underside of the diaphragm. It will help to hold boost up top for sure.

If by some off chance you get one with only a single port im sure the reason would be that they changed MFG or something like that. So the chances of getting a different one is very slim.

Hey guys Ive got a Hypergear SS3 atm and after not getting the results I wanted on the dyno and speaking to a few people they seem to think that the rear housing is a bit too small.

I want something that is good for 350-400kw... I really dont have the time to read through 230 pages but i have read a few and it seems like this kando T67 would be a good option right?

I was thinking of going a GT3583R but if this is just as good I would do it.

What do you guys think? I really want to get it right this time...

Ive already got a 6boost manifold and 50mm turbosmart gate

I don't think anyone would say the T67 is as good as a GT35, they are also quite different. If you want to make 400kw I would be going for the gt35 with a tank of ethanol. 350 you could get away with the T67 or a gtx3076.

I honestly don't think the SS3 is the problem mate.

I agree. Wouldn't want to change turbo for the same result.

I would have thought if the rear housing was too small it wouldn't take till 5k for full boost. Didn't Stao hit 20psi around 4300?

Its the same .82 housing everyone uses. Its not too small.

I dont know the exact wheel dimensions but the thing was tested and did get a good result.

I think he needs to get a second opinion on the tune. I have used Toshi.. Even if he found the problem understanding his Japlish would be a different story (no racism - am a wog marrying an asian).

Hang in there and keep communicating with stao

He has a really good track record of helping customers out and achieving the desired result

On this note, it would be good to discuss the actual size of the turbo with him (wheel sizes).

For example, I was a little undecided about my SS1PU until I discussed what the wheel sizes are. Once I knew how big it was I knew where to set my targets. In this case you may be expecting heaps more than it will have to give.

I just checked his website and the turbo appears to be aimed at a very responsive 300kw (externally gated only). That tells me its possibly similar in size to the SS2 (60mm turbine 71mm compressor).

Your on E85 so you should have lots more regardless (probably 330) but your missing LOTS of response and the power too, delivery doesnt sound right. Definitely something wrong, and its not just the wrong turbo.

I need some help guys.

How do I tell what size exhaust housing I have?

We've just tuned my car with a t67 on it, and it only made 260KW at the wheels on 20psi and it is dropping off boost at high revs, the engine us a 25 with 26 internals and pon Cams which obviously made 350KW with a 3540 on 22psi.

The exhaust housing looks really small. It was meat to be a 10cm but now we are doubting that very much

Got photos of the turbo and the power graph?

Just FYI, the 10cm rear housings look very small (compared to a Garrett) the 8cm's look tiny, like stupidly small!

You should be making a lot more power, I'm tipping that something else has gone wrong... What else was changed?

    • Well, I'm tired. I'm tired because about 4PM yesterday, before today's appointment someone immediately bought my bumper. They couldn't get it any other day as they're on the way back to NSW. So I had to do that big GTR conversion I had been planning. Unfortunately, the information on SAU about what you need and how this is done is incomplete. So what should be a simple bolt on affair, yeah, it's not. Did you know if you use all GTR items the bonnet won't close? This little manuever sent me into about 1am the night before trying to dodge a way to get it closed. I will have to revisit this in the next few days  - or maybe not, I may let a body shop figure it out. It all needs to come up and my motivation to pull the bumper off is low. It also seems to hit things in the bay where the GTT bonnet didn't. Yes I used 100% new OEM GTR items. Today, I had the joy of driving to the dyno looking like this: Given I had roughed in the fuel and given sensible but pretty conservative timing, I didn't really bet on having the car drive out any real difference than when it drove in. Sadly due to a miscommunication and laptop fun and games (and almost bricking the dongle, prayers and firmware updates indeed), I ended up using HP Tuner credits to licence the car that was already licenced. So in the end my laptop was used. It turns out my butt dyno is still well calibrated after all this time. The 325kw was on 74% Ethanol, the 313kw line was on 98. The other line is the 'before' line which was 281kw. While the numbers are pretty low, they're pretty in line with what you'd expect. Even if US dynos bump the whole result up about 50KW, gaining 10-15% is similar gains.  The curve of the cam is pretty much spot on with what was discussed as well. All this said, it still feels bad to not see the number you secretly want to see. Even if the car drove great beforehand, and I knew pretty confidently the car would drive out much the same way it drove in due to the nature of a wellish dialled in LS1 not gaining much if anything at all from being tuned from where it was. As expected, the car isn't particularly sensitive to running it at anywhere between 12.0 and 13.0 - And the initial timing at 20deg and 12.0 made 308KW. So 3 degrees of timing, and leaning it out to 12.7 for 5kw, anything above stopped giving any benefit until E85 (which has an additional 2 deg as before). Car itself behaved entirely fine. I found out that 100C = 1.15V! IAT at about 7pm was 19C. I might mess with the bonnet mounting.. but given the REO NEEDS TO BE CHOPPED TO FIT A GTR BAR this is possibly something I may leave gathering (more) dust until it returns to paint jail.
    • It sounds farrrrrrr too cold at your place Duncan... Here I was thinking our 10 degrees overnight is getting cold...
