Sorry to go OT, and I'm not sure where you are, so assuming you're in Australia, WTF is it with everyone beginning to call the bonnet a hood? This isn't the first time in SAU that I've seen the bonnet referred to as the hood.

It's a bonnet. The bonnet is the bit at the front of a car that covers the engine. It's not a hood. We speak British English, therefore it's a bonnet. If we had've been settled by the Yanks, then it'd be a hood.

So in conclusion: Bonnet = UK English (ie. ours), Hood = American English (ie. not ours).

That is all. Carry on.

As for the bonnet vent issues, I've no idea. I can only dream of owning such a car :)
