Hpi Clear Cam Gear Cover And Cas Spacing...

Hai,

So I got a clear cam gear cover made by HPI. It said it bolts on with no mods but I'm worried about the spacing for the CAS.

The OEM cover holds a gasket affair with three brass washers which serve to space the CAS.

The cover is not made to fit this gasket but instead has bolt hole though the plastic front.

Just by eye-balling it I reckon this clear plastic is maybe a mm thinner than the brass washers.

So it would make the CAS fit a little closer unless I space it using washers.

Can anyone advise?

I don't want to bugger the CAS and have an expensive disaster but I need the clear cover to prove my man-hood on cruises.

dont think 1mm would make much difference, but with the greddy ones you have to use the nissan oem gasket that has the washers in the gasket

I watched an episode of aircraft investigation where a technician eyeballed a nut for the front screen when replacing it, needless to say it didn't work out to well.

All that aside I have the same cover because my original was broken when being rebuilt, replace the oem gasket as its there for a reason

yep use the standard gasket, or if not space it out with washers. You will chew out the CAS otherwise

I can confirm from my experience that if you don't space out the CAS using the HPI cover you will destroy your CAS!
