I posted a topic a few weeks ago about this problem but didn't get anywhere so I'm here again with some updates.

The problem is that my car developed a hesitation while cruising. No engine lights came on the first few times however after a while the SLIP light would come on & stay on (TCS turned off). Lately at times the engine light will also come on with the SLIP light.

Took it to a workshop who ran the ecu error codes and came up with the code for the AFM so I bought a brand new generic one and still have the same problem.

It's slowly getting worse & worse with it having a extremely tough idle on start up this morning then cutting out completely.

Ideas?

Engine light + SLIP is typically caused by busted coil packs. Next time they light up have a look at the ECU fault codes - the paperclip method is easy to follow. If you get 21 (ignition signal) it's 99% certain it's the coil packs. 50-60k they should still be good but you never know.

Here's a list of other things you can try: Resolved Misfire In R34 Gtt - Rb25det Neo Checklist and links to other misfire threads. Good luck.

Maybe it's as simple as a bad connection on the AFM plug. Or a faulty bit of wiring somewhere.

Some contact cleaner (or even WD40 works) sprayed inside both sides of the connection should make sure it's getting a nice clean electrical connection.

Good luck

    • All of your suspension bushes/bolts etc, should also only ever be tightened when the car is sitting with full weight too.   IE, jack it back up, shove a heap of stuff down so you can lower the wheels onto so the car is "on the ground" but you have room to get under it.   It's why when properly done, you should be able to remove the shock and spring, but the arms won't go to 100% droop. If you don't do the above, you'll destroy your bushes.

    • These arrived today! Sadly I'm going to probably be smart and enjoy the car as is over the summer/sunny period and save the ~2 weeks downtime it'd take to swap the heads over and tune later in the year. Maybe. It's going to be pretty damn tempting seeing these bolt on funs just sitting in storage when they're ready to go. There's a non-zero chance I end up @The Bogan'ing it.
