Hmmm. I think names should be removed from here Niz..

Getting the thread back on topic :D - Troy, would it make you job easier to just delete/edit offending posts with "comments not suitable" or something like that? I can imagine you can't please everyone and I don't think people are complaining about what you are doing at all - I think the thread was just started to bring some understanding to the mod process..

Keep up the good work mods.. :P

here here.

i think this is a good idea. that way it allows the topic of conversation to continue and the person posting offensive/unnecessarily off-topic stuff is then made aware of the fact that it's offensive.

this wasnt supposed to be a blame or criticism thread - and I can see it turning in to one..... - instead just some constructive discussion about how we can control what is causing threads to be locked - cause reading a BB which has every second thread locked is kinda ....boring.

OK - threads get locked or removed when they are defamatory or gone way off topic. Instead of just locking a thread that has gone off topic - maybe the mods can ask that people stay "on topic" and if it happens again, then lock it, that way people were at least warned. With the defamatory comments - ie mentioning mechanics names etc..... The mods have the privs to edit other peoples threads right...well use this priv! Remove the names and post a comment saying that you did this.

On threads

Yes we lock them, open them and edit peoples posts with-in them. After a thread is locked yes mods can post in it again.

Dan thanks for posting that link, reading that again tells me none of the mods on the entire forum follow that 100% of the time.

I will now follow the forum rules to the letter. So I will be doing the below.

Moderators;

Always log your actions in the Moderators section!

Always discuss possible bannings prior to taking action!

If a post has been made which breaches the general forum rules - edit that post, explain what they did wrong, and sign it with your name.

Do not delete threads. Move them to the "moved" section in the Mods discussion - this way we can always restore them if we need to.

Onto the mystery man.

If you guys all had such a problem with him why weren't any of the moderators told about it???? We can talk to them in pm and hopefully clear things up with them so the forum experience can be enjoyed by all. He did the right thing and sent a pm this morning.

Dont forget that going through a thread and deleting every comment that was against policy can be a downright pain in the ass. Seeing as usually by the time uve finished its just starts up along the same lines.

Locking a thread usually has a reason but if people start breaking the rules the thread must be removed from the public eye asap. Hey i know i lock or delete a thread once in a blue moon but when i do im usually asked via pm or have a good reason.

I dont think ive seen any mods go mad with power yet, they seem to be doing the right thing by both the users and the owners. Good idea with this thread though good to get these concerns out in the open.
