how often are you hard on the brakes (i'm talking 'on the limit' braking, not just somewhat hard braking) when drifting anyway? pretty much never, so it doesn't really matter whether you have ABS or not. there is no ABS on the handbrake

for drift ABS is an absolute no no and the reason this is all is well and good if you remain on the track but if you stuff up and start going off track onto grass with the brakes hard on you will not be stopping once you hit that grass... the abs system will just give up. have come close to hitting walls after driving several abs equiped cars.

its also shit if your in a 4 wheel slide and you need to use footbrake as well as handbrake to reduce speed but maintain angle.. again the abs system just craps out.

for a road car they are ideal.. wouldnt let my wife drive without abs haha

i said motorkhana not drift.... it can involve lots of hard breaking depending on course layout, not just to get the car sideways

Motorkhana I'll take ABS...

I lost a run fractionally because the driver pushed too hard, locked a tyre and understeered... Gimme ABS and I'd have owned on that run.

As for ABS in motorsport, there's a few guys on here who love it to death for racing, depending on the car, yet certain ABS systems are very bad as they have been known for completely shitting themselves if you're braking, and lift a tyre as one wheel will stop, so ABS kicks in.

But for having fun with, since you haven't said street or track, I'd be using ABS.

driving without ABS is very simple, when u get on the brakes to hard and feel the front wheel lock, norm the inside wheel the corner coming up, you just simply get off the bracks for a spilt second and have a another go. ive done it a million times, as my gtr is factory un fitted with abs, i seam to have no probs at all with lock ups, you no when its happening and just have to remember to get off and back on.

ABS is very good however for the Average road user that when somthing happens like someone walks in front of there car... they just stand on the brakes, its amazing how much longer you slide for if you just stand of em and not get off and on.

my 2 cents
