I dropped and changed the oil in both diff's

the oil that came out was putrid and like it had turned to water. glad i did it.

also got scotty to make me up a new "pre throttle body" IC pipe (the one with the BOV attached to it.) Have a look. gonna get some 3m sticky heat shield and cover it up. should look good

good idea. might write one up on the m35info forum if the mod's want?

took me 20 minutes each diff + the time it would take to take the tray(rock deflector thing) off the front

you need a 1mm Allen key 3 quarts of diff fluid - should take two and abit.

same as servicing the transfer case.. drain with bottom allen key bolt, close up. fill with top allen key bolt until it overflows. pretty simple honestly.

dont know if u notice a difference in drive, but gives you piece of mind knowing you've done it.

I think if you come from S.Africa, its called a Ellen key.... (saw it written on a S.Africans toolbox - lol)

Anyways Going to strip, clean, and re-set the Throttle body this weekend. Any tips?

I got the reset idle air volume instructions etc etc... anything else i should know, what to touch/ what not to touch?

also interested. i cleaned the visible part last night. now warm idle is 750ish RPM

oops.

can it be reset?

Depends. Not on my original one it couldn't.... unless Iain has somehow managed it.

I think I may have stretched whatever is in there because my warm idle was just over 1100rpm (cold was around the 1600rpm mark)

Edited by iamhe77

650 +/- 50rpm is factory spec, so 750 shouldn't be an issue.

Mine idles 550-650 (500 when hot). No issues at all.

Guess it just comes down to how comfortable you are with it.

yeh. if i come accross a second hand one, i'l grab it and fix it. but i think it will be on the 'when i can be bothered' list

why not clean and re-set the idle...?

Nothing to stretch in there - its only cogs/motors/sensors afaik

mine is about 750 at the moment in N or P, about 700 in D.

Did the other shopping trolly (that has done 175k Kms) today, cleaned TB and MAF, good result -idles much smoother now

Cam had one that wouldn't set the idle after cleaning. Mine is the same. I don't mind an 800rev idle in drive though.

Mine may not set the idle any more due to the engine light being on and the ecu in fault. It will drop the revs after the learn but the next time I start it the idle has raised again.
