lol that would be more likely!

We're taking 4 total. Guys in the back were complaining they couldn't watch DVDs, and for the cost of these headrests I figured it was worthwhile.

Robbie has 5 going over I think, want to hope it's not all in the one car. I know he's taking a Caprice over instead of the Stag.

I've got 6 coming, 4 in the caprice, 2 in either an rx8 or a b2200 ute running a 13b turbs.

It's only costing me $20 a day to have the leathered out, DVD playing, spacious 6 liter caprice, so I figure why not, use someone else tyres and spend alot less in fuel too.

I have a better story... the two headrest monitors I ordered on eBay Sunday turned up today... FROM HONG KONG! :worship:

They look great, two 9" monitors with zip up covers to hide them from prying eyes. Can't wait till Brad and I get them installed Sunday.

Which ones did you get?

Made an offer of $200, which was accepted almost straight away. You can get cheaper ones, but I didn't want vinyl headrests to go with my cloth seats

nice work ryan, thats really cheap! i was after an independant one that you can put a DVD into. the standard facia i have kind of restricts me here lol

IMO... I would not do the DVD head rest again but just use a hard drive or Ipod/Iphone for movies.

The DVD plays are good to start but 2 years on my son complains about the disc jumping on less than smooth roads.

Cheers

didnt think of that. i guess with the AV inputs you can basically plug anything into it.

X100. Digital media FTW...I can't remember using optical media for a while now...apart from ripping stuff...

yeah same. i dont even use optical media in my computers. im thinking of replacing my optical drive in my laptops with a 2nd hard drive bay. or maybe another battery!

back ON topic. the exhaust is settling in. the ECU runs rich for a few seconds after backing off and now it pops when the exhaust is hot :)

Did anyone with an intake notice that they ran particularly rich when backing off? Before the e-manage tune of course.

I've tuned mine so the AFR's are good at light to medium loads (runs really nice actually), but when I lift off after accelerating, the AFR's start to go lean (as they should when coasting) but then go full rich (10:1 on my display) for a few seconds which causes a heap of smoke out the back.

I can post pics of log graphs if it will help, but it really just displays what I said (I hope  ). I'm thinking of returning the intake to stock to confirm the problem goes away and then get some graphs to compare with the new ones, but that will require some work...

As an aside, I don't know if anyone else has seen this, but it appears to me that the standard ECU has another map that it refers to after a certain rate of acceleration (or throttle application) occurs. I found this out because my AFRs remained essentially unchanged at the top end regardless of what I did to the AFM signal at those load points. It is like it ignores the AFM signal & does it's own thing.

    • 49719 is the cooler loop. Right at the front, LHS of that diagram. Return line from rack (LP side) goes to cooler loop on RHS front of car, then back under engine and returns to bottom of tank. 49717M is feed from tank to pump. HP line out of pump is thick rubber, followed by the hard line that runs down to crossmember and runs in parallel (but opposite flow direction) to the LP return line. Nothing goes anywhere near the firewall or interior of car. The closest they get to that is the connections on the rack.
    • Thanks, plan is to drain all fluid tomorrow and do smoke test to find out the leak.   Appreciate your help and want to understand how the system work. So cooling is achieved by the long loop not any rad? The diagram seems to suggest it connects to somewhere inside the cabin and I thought that is a cooler inside firewall. If you look at the diagram it seems to show it connects to something inside firewall. I tried chasing it but not easy unless I take loads off   i am confident pump is good as fluid goes in and it gets soft( steering) but as soon as I turn engine off , loads of bubble come to surface and overflow. When engine is on , fluid level is below minimum but when off it shoots off and thinking it is sucking air in. I suspect aluminium pipe may have a crack line or whole   smoke test with no fluid should be a good start and if needed will remove the pump   In addition, the one going under the engine bay is high pressure line and one directly connecting from pump to resorvoir is return/ low pressure?   finally I searched and suggestion is to use dexron 2 but that is discontinued so bought dexron 3 as all research suggest it is compatible and shouldn’t cause any issues/ blow seals. I bought two liter of dexron 3 motul atf
    • Don't worry about. Just don't try to drive hard enough to make boost and you'll be fine.
    • Yes. This has already been said. It is a loop of hardline in front of the radiator. Because.... the pump is on the LHS and the steering rack hydraulic connections are where they always are on a RHD steering rack....on the RHS. The high pressure line goes down under the engine, along the crossmember, like it does on all Skylines. Don't just throw expensive braided hoses/other kits at it. Work out what is wrong and fix that.
    • Still got the afm on the intake, clamps are shut tight, only loose hose is the one that goes from the j pipe towards the IACV, since it's next to impossible to find a factory hose and the barbs are different sizes (I'm still using clamps on this hose to try and help it seal on the iacv side) I've ordered parts to make up the hotside of the intercooler pipes, I'll plumb it in and see what happens in a few days I suppose The turbo's internally gated, can I just unscrew the tension rod to let the gate open?
