looks like im going to go for a highflow after all that. i talked to stao, and he suggested that if im not planning on going highmount in the future to make bigger numbers with the ATR43G3, then i might aswell highflow. as said above the extra 20 or so kw, is not worth it with the G3 when i can have the highflow with only slightly less response than standard, and being a heavier car the response is probably more benefical than the 20kw.

cheers for the help guys, looks like ive got it all sorted.

Just picked up the passenger side cam cover gasket to fit tomorrow. Came in just in time as yesterday I pulled up at a mates workshop and had smoke coming out from under the bonnet due to the oil running into the turbo!

If people want I can't do a DIY write up on how to do it for those wanting to have a go but aren't sure about how to go about it.

You might as well; it can't hurt to have one.

Maybe put it up on the "Awesome" forum too, Iain would be happy to have it there; that's the best spot for "How to's" IMO.

Not a problem. All we need is someone to do a turbo remove/refit to show the easiest way to go about.

I would but my hands are always too dirty, and the missus won't let me use the camera.

The way I do it involves a few special tools I have made, and also requires a fair tool kit (torx sockets, extra long extensions with universals, deep sockets etc,) not something I would generally recommend as DIY. Its a biach of a job.

Plenum off.

Rocker cover off (12mm bolts I think)

Remove rubber seal

install rubber seal in rocker cover

Get Fkd off trying to keep the damn seal in the cover whilst reinstalling lol

Bolt down rocker cover

Reinstall plenum etc

Look forward to reading your write up Paul and hearing how you go about keeping the seal in the cover when reinstalling :)

Start car and find the new gasket is leaking worse than before.

Do the whole job again...

Or is it so you guys can keep offering your services for cash money to do the job for them? jokes

Feel free to come on over and help with mine; I'll stand back and take the pics...

I wouldn't want to get in the way. :whistling:

ill come take pics and give a hand if its a weekend im around

I hope so, if Craig is still speaking to me after the 11ty billion phone calls in the last week or so...

Fitted that insert yet?

What are you so worried about Paul, it's a simple turbo swap, and don't you have access to a hoist? Pictures in such a confined space will just confuse you more, it's not like you can see the bolts. Just give me a call when you do the job, i'm happy to work you through it...

No hoist access any more as he sold the business, so back to working on ramps

Na Im not worried, just thought some tips to go about it as easy as possible would be good for me and others wanting to tackle it when the need arrises.

Hopefully it won't need doing for another year or more but who knows with these things, get ready for that call then!

Cheers
