Iain, so pretty much what your trying to tell me is that you bought a Bugatti, but you paid 45 gees for it. ermm.gif

nah, I like them actually.

Reading the reliability survey don in the USA I am not so sure you are right about this.

VW rated 56th out of 60... :whistling:

So as in 4th from the bottom?

which means Audi > VW yeah?

Not sure what your point is? LOL...

Just read the JD powers survey....Audi A4 seems to trump Passat and Golf GTI in overall reliability? :/

i paid under 40k for my Octavia, drive away.

the only difference - besides looks - in most of the lineups over all the brands, is the panels.

most chassis are the same, engines, wiring, even down to steering wheels etc. my car is covered with VW and AUDI stickers on parts.

you guys bag them out, but come and look at it, its better than you think!

brake lines finally fixed. With big 324mm rotors and dogbones, with bilsteins & camber arms, the line fouled on full lock against the swaybar. Used a 90deg fitting at the R32 caliper so its all perfect now. Brakes feel as meaty as ever!

Will fit new qfm pads & shim kit after midyear exams I guess, to do away with the front rhs squeal.

End of year will do a hiboost tune & see what the forged motor can do :P

Lol, My sis had a Skoda Superb (the next car up the range in size) when she was out here for holidays last year, and it was very nicely finished. Had the 2L TDi motor; for a big car, it was quick!

yeah the supurb is nice, but out of my price range, and IMO a little expensive for a less-well known car

Who cares how well known it is? Most people don't know what a Stagea is!

How is the VW anyway?

finally did some work on the poor neglected stag today.

Switch for the boost controller

New aerials for the tv (works good)

Speedo corrector for the nifty nismo dash

Didn't work out why the reverse lights aren't working....next time.

I installed a wastegate actuator with an external spring, Twas a right pain as had to remove most of my intake to get the job done, but by all accounts it will help get the most out of the stock turbo so a worthwhile exercise.

Thanks Scotty, I'll have my old one back to you in the post on Monday.

No problem Leon, glad its you fitting it. lol. You got a decent boost gauge? My old one read 3 psi low. >_<

Remember to block the stock bleeder or re-tune your controller if you have one, then wind it up slowly, checking the afr's if you can.

I've got 2 boost gauges & they read differently too. I've just been out working through the process of adjusting boost & fuel mixtures.

I started by allowing the wastegate to see all the boost & then slowly reduced the solenoid duty cycle (cuts off air going to the actuator) to add more boost. Got a bit greedy a few times & took too much out - hit boost cut :/

Had to add more fuel for the high boost map as well. It's not perfect yet, but felt it best not to tear up & down the nearby country lane all afternoon. The farmers don't mind me tuning now & then, but I've got to be considerate of their peace & quiet.

So far it's looking promising with more boost available where it was falling away before.

Did you use the Jaycar one? Pic of cluster please!

yep, the jaycar kit, works perfectly. Just tapped the speedo wire at the dash and hid the box up behind the hazard light switch. It's been in there a while bu I had to adjust it because I've changed rim/tyre size recently.

Nismo dash is the main reason I had to fix the speedo. A big digital speedo is just annoying when it's wrong!
