Back on topic :nyaanyaa:

I picked up a new steering wheel with stereo controls today to replace my worn original. Immaculate condition, very pleased.

Bought from Osakaparts Online in Haberfield.

Was $200. Which I was happy to pay for how good it is.

Don't know if I can integrate my head unit, but it was the same price without them...

Well considering a used wheel with BOTH remotes are about $100 USD from fleabay:

They can't be TOO dear..

Although I did pay $75 for mine

EDIT: Oops thought we're just talking about the remotes...my bad

i just want the controls, im sure i can just make it work..

shoulda stolen my sisters Steering wheel aswell.. lol

yup need an adaptor to work with all head units (mine included) but the instructions didnt mention that lol

there is an adaptor on ebay for about $120 supporting nissans and most aftermarket head units

if your going an after market headunit it wont work wouldnt it?

My Eclipse is compatible with steering wheel controls as well so there must be a few options out there.

Which Eclipse did you get? AVN726EA?

Yep, that's the one. Put in by previous owner (well he got pro's to do it) & I'm glad I didn't have to pay for it as it's bloody expensive. There's even a sub in the back (same spot as the factory Bose goes - hey, poet & didn't know it  ) & the sound is pretty darn good.

If I was starting from scratch I'd either do a carputer or probably a much cheaper brand double DIN (Chinese fleabay special haha) as I couldn't justify spending that much on something that didn't make the car go faster/handle better/more economical.

Hehe...I understand...

I've got one of those installed in my wife's Mitsi Grandis...not too bad...but I thought the AV side was kinda spartan (no avi/wmv playback via USB, etc) and the BT support was kinda flakey...

the Nav system is pretty sweet though.

Wouldn't have gotten it if i had to pay full price, that's for sure!

I reckon there are much better buys out there, that's for sure. I have mine displaying GPS 98% of the time & playing music from USB or Ipod. I've never tried playing movie files (I guess I can use the TV tuner for that) & I've had similar erroneous performance with BT as well. The other thing is I can't get some DVDs to play because of their menu structure, so it's probably great value for <$700-$800 but otherwise I'd buy something else.

Pretty flash for a people mover tho  .
