Nic_A31
Did you have to cut out that area in the tank where the cradle sits inside of? or atleast remove the plastic filter on the outside of that area so fuel flows in quicker? I've noticed both the Bosch 040 and Walbro sometimes struggle in high revs, I'm sure it's just more dirty in my tank, but while using my fuel pump to empty my tank for cleaning, I noticed both pumps can empty that area a tad quicker than it seems to refill when the plastic basket is on the outside ? Kris..
i had an 040 in mine shortly after i got it, bottom of the pump hit the bottom of fuel tank it was too tall and kept cutting out as it was clogged with all the shit at the bottom of the tank Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/348889-question-for-anyone-w-bosch-040-high-volume-fuel-pump/#findComment-5610308 Share on other sites
Nic_A31
What did you do after that? With the bosch and a heavily modified cradle I can get it about 5 - 10 mm away from the bottom of the tank. Did you raise the height that the pump sits at? I really don't want to have to clean my tank again but the sock keeps getting clogged. Hoping that if I use this Walbro pump and raise it up higher that I won't have the issue anymore. DanShirts
I had a 040 in mine. It ran fine, but it was loud. I got mine down to about 10mm off the bottom of the tank. I switched to a walbro because the noise was driving me crazy. I dont know if it made any change, but I pulled the plastic baffle out of mine when I switched to the walbro. daisu
I put a walbro in mine about 5 years ago, never had a problem with it... except that I get fuel surge on a particular corner when I get below half a tank. I've since added a surge tank and an external pump in the boot.
