Speedo Not Working?

I found a R34 skyline on carsales for a great price. Looks great, condition is pretty good but the owner said the speedo wasnt working.

WIll this be a big problem? And how much will it cost to get it fixed? (considering the worst thing happened to it)

Assuming the R34 speedo works the same as the R33 speedo it will have an electronic sender at the gearbox, wires to the dash and then the dash itself. So choose your problem. either or all of them could be the issue so depends how good you are with electrics or how much your willing to spend really

Well i doubt ill do it myself. Ill take it somewhere to do it. Its guna cost a couple of 100 dollars yeah ?

Pretty much this. As soon as I hear rev tacho, speedo, something on the gauge not working you know its probably been tampered with. Then again, so has probably every skyline in Australia.

or its a 31, they dont work from the factory

Anything can be fixed man, you just gotta narrow down the problem. I'd ask for 500 off the asking price. Pretty sure it's detectable to have a faulty cluster, but you won't be able to prove that since it's the speedo

Probably cant get it lowered because thats why its out for so cheap. Well as long as i can get it fixed i think it will be alright. I am looking at this one

Or i can go for the cheaper one and slowly fix things up (rims, bonnet, etc)
