Just wondering where would the best place to buy Gaskets for the Rocker covers & washes for the screws which tighten down the covers ? Got a slight leak at the back of the driver side one & local mechanic mentioned replacing the gasket & washes on screws would fix the problem. Would Just Jap have them or would it be better going through my local Nissan dealer & ordering the parts ?

hey man I replaced mine just recently and ordered mine through justjap. They're probably the same price if not cheaper than if you were to purchase them from nissan, plus you'll get them in a couple of days...not weeks. And I'd only bother replacing the screw washers if they look really worn. Mine all looked and felt pretty good so I didn't bother replacing any of them but that's totally up to you.

Yeah the rubber washes look pretty worn & starting to get slight cracks in them , so they need replacing . What was the price like for the parts & is the job doing it yourself pretty straight forward ?

oh you'll also need the 2 'half-moon' seals which are located at the back of the rockers covers. you can also get these from justjap for about $8 each i think

Thanks for that , i'll add those to the order aswell !

I think the rocker cover gaskets were $42 each. the srew washers are like $3 each and the half moon seals are $8 each from memory. so all up you'd be looking at just over $100 including postage. The job itself is really straight forward. There's a d.i.y. located somewhere on these forums. If you live in brisbane I'd be more than happy to give you a hand with it.

Thanks for the offer mate , but live in the Lismore Nsw . Which is a couple hours south of you . Do you put any gasket glue on aswell ? Seems a pretty straight forward job

you need silicone gasket or similar under the half moons, but no-where else.

watch out for the rocker cover bolts, the factory torque on those screws is very low. 2-4nm only.

also, might as well replace the whole cam cover seals if you are pulling it apart.

arghh shit. i didnt know about the gasket glue on the half moon rear plugs. i just put the top on a rb2530 and i did not put gasket glue on these half moon plugs. do they definatly leak with out it. i havnt noticed gasket glue on them from factory?

well it all seemed pretty tight so ill leave it for now but at least i know whats happening if i have a small leak at rear of head now.

and as i said before tweaky...im pretty sure i have a set of new rocker cover gaskets in the garage i wont be needing. so if your chasing rb25 ones i can supply a pair alot cheaper than $42 each from nissan.

Thanks for the offer mate , but i'll stick with Just Jap & order all the parts i need in one order. Cheers

How can i measure the torque on the screws when i'll be using a screw driver to tighten them ? Is it necessary to replace the cam cover seals , job seems like its getting bigger !!

ahh don't worry too much....just making the point that these bolts should be very lightly tightened. personally I do them until the rubber seal under the screw bulges a little and then stop.

O.k thanks for the advice , i'll keep it in mind when tightening them.
