Fitting Rubber Suspension Bushes Without A Press

Hi.

My sons mate was asking about fitting rubber suspension bushes and using a press to fit them and how much people wanted to fit them. Told him i could fit them without a press. Usual things were said " impossible without a press".

Anyway all fitted no problems so i thought i would share the way you can fit rubber bushes only.

First you need two pieces of 1/8 plate steel hole drilled in the middle and a bolt and nut to suit the diameter and length.

The next item you need is a bottle of methylated spirits. This is the important item.

Simply soak the bushes(must be rubber) for thirty minutes in the metho(completely covered) as this causes them to shrink slightly.

Pop them in tighten nut in tool and bingo in they go- when dry the rubber goes back to its original size.

Of course will not work with steel outer bushes,
