I have been reading a lot of threads on this site over the past few weeks and find it very interesting to hear and see, the range of attitudes amongst members when it comes to modifying their R35 GTR's.

There seems to be several groups, that range from creating an absolute track weapon that can no longer be driven on the street, and those that are not hard core at all and sell out early to buy something else, like an M3 that has comfort and 'sparkling performance'

GIVE YOUR VOTE TO THE ATTACHED POLL - What type R35 GTR owner are you?

EVEN IF YOU INTEND TO BE A FUTURE R35 GTR OWNER, PLACE YOUR VOTE!

This could also be a good forum for members to expand on their modifications, but also explain what it is and why it is, that you want from your GTR.

For me, its all about the surprise!

I wanted a car I can drive everyday, that will also do well on the street and track, but still has a mostly standard look to it. I love seeing the sad faces of the Porsche, Ferrari, AMG and BMW M car owners when my car obliterates them from the lights and or on the track. Especially the GT3 Porsche owners, they really crack me up, you can hear the sound of their fragile egos cracking as you blast past themlaughing-smiley-014.gif

haha, I like this thread!

I started out with the third option in mind then soon went for option 2. Wasn't long before I said bugger it this is way too much fun, lets go for option 1! careful though, it could happen to you too

Handbrake

I created Option 1 with you in mind after reading every page of the Mercury Motor sport thread about the development of your car.

Lets face it, without a doubt you have the most insane R35 GTR in Australia!!!!!!

And your right, there should be a big fat ADDICTION warning sticker on every R35 GTR sold.

Every aftermarket supplier guy is basically a GTR Candy Man!

I don't get it sad.gif

Over 200 views only 15 votes and other than Handbrake, nobody has anything to say bout their mods etc????

How about some 'Kicked Some Ass' stories from both the street and track?

Would make fun reading for other R35 owners.

I ticked the 'mildly modded' box with a COBB tune and a mid-pipe. I get along to as many track days as I can and am looking forward to running on slicks this year. It is difficult to stop myself from progressing further up the scale!

Caymen? Two or more entry level Porsches?

I know I should have said GT3 or Turbo Porsche, but Porcshe Caymen rhymes too well with Porsche Gaymen!

I love the stated R35 ethos; "Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere"

This is why i bought the car.

I won two CAMS State Sprint championships using this road car. Most of my close competitors (90%) had trailered in race cars.

I love the philosophy, and the low cost of this track weapon (relatively) vs other so called track cars (road registered that is).

I dont think you can aquire a faster road registered four seater track weapon (let alone two seater).

Nissan have done an awesome job.

Of course, i can understand those wanting to push the envelope too. But, at that level, i think you can make just about any dedicated track car uber fast, given time, resources, money etc.

Hi Duncan

Great results mate!

I agree, the GTR is something special!

I use it as my daily driver, pick up the kids etc etc, then go to QR and splat GT3's with slicks and the strange men who drive them.

I am currently fitting the full Willall exhaust, down pipes, AAM racing air intakes, Cobb tune, BOV's, H&R springs & splitter.

I also intend to start attending the track days at QR or Morgan Park. On that, do you or somebody on this site have any details on the programs and temp CAMS license etc.

Thanks

Yeah me too (kids, works, shopping, beer! you name it). I would love to go to the next level but it would involve making it a track-only proposition; so then i need a trailer, tow car, probably a DD too, not to mention a place to put all that stuff. Maybe one day. Down here we have stripper WRX's, Evo's (even a quick Civic or two) which are just as quick vs a race R35. Hell just look at superlap results.

Anyway for the sprints etc. in NSW, all you need to do is become a member of a CAMS affiliated Club, and join up to the state CAMS championship. Sorry but i just don't know how it works up north.

Yes the trade off for stripping out your GTR to become a track only car can be brutal.

I drive a 2003 XT BA falcon around now. its grey so it blends in beautifully with the masses. instead of nodding my head to other GTR owners now I give a nod to the taxi drivers.

Good Thread.....

I went option 3 for my R35 as I already have an off its face R33 GTR for the track.

There is no point having 2 track cars & I love being able to take both of them out

to private track days. I usually have a few goes in the R35 while my R33 is having

a rest!

I love my lightly modified R35 for spirited hills driving but find it a bit heavy

at the track compared to my stripped out R33 GTR. Still have great fun driving it though.

Definately the weapon of choice for those guys that need a dual purpose street/track car.

Anyone else that is considering stripping out their ADM R35 should maybe look at selling

it & turning a JDM into the track only car instead. The MFD on the JDM is heaps better,

I dont like the "pacman" looking poverty pack resolution on the ADMs. Shame they did that!

Will be keen to drive the new updated 2011 model to see what the changes are like.

I am a sucker for a blue gtr..................

Go Slip! God Munro, you and you're fixation on the MFD resolution! At least all those japanese characters will appear razor sharp when you're trying to decipher them fanging around Mallalla while you're shouting TAI YAH!!! because you want to get your tyre pressures screen up and you can't get to it using the touch screen :nyaanyaa:
