Instead of modifying the RB25 one will the RB30 E one fit with the 25 pump, I would rather a straight swap over trying to modify the one on it, my problem is the 5 mm offset that is causing the power steering belt to come of at high RPM.

And I did search but only found that a RB30E bracket might fit.

i just use the rb25 one i think. unmodified. just had to put spacers between the bracket and the block on two or the three mounting points. from memory this was only because the aircon pump bracket used to go between the block and the powersteer pump bracket on the rb25. so now that i dont run the aircon bracket on the 30 i needed to chuck about 30 mm of spacer in on two of the bolts.

cant remember exactly but i'm pretty sure the only different is the one bolt hole. i compared a 30e and 25 bracket when doing the conversion and thats the only difference i noticed. went from using the 25 bracket on the 25 to the 30e bracket on the 30det with no dramas, re used the old belt and its never come off.

Sadly the RB30 bracket will not accept the 25 pump and the top bolt hole also doesnt line up with the 25 head anyway, UNIGROUP are making a bracket up now so all is well.

On the rb26, the top bolt hole doesn't line up because on the 2.6 motor the top bolt is in the cylinder head, and on the 3.0 it's in the block. Pretty sure it's the same for the 2.5.

The RB30 bracket has all the mounting bosses at the same depth, but on the 2.6 the top hole has a thicker casting. I tried to use the rb30 bracket, but it sits the pump too far back.

Easy solution is to just hacksaw off the excess material from the 2.6 bracket, the cast iron is pretty soft and it's not difficult or time consuming to get a nice cut that sits everthing neatly and then you know you're belt lines up straight. I haven't had any problems with mine after 2000 kms.

My main problem apart from the top bolt which would need some fab work is the pump has different adjustment points, the 25 had a threaded rod where the 30 uses a slot in the bracket so I would need to swap from the 25 pump to a 30 pump, Its going to be much cheaper to fab up a plate and use the 25 bracket instead of replacing the whole set up.

use the 25 pump on the 25 bracket on he 30 block. and yer ur on the money, i went to use 30 bracket but the 25 pump wouldnt fit the 3 litre bracket so i used the 25 bracket and spaced it out im pretty sure.

A bracket was made to join the lower fixture points and the top fixing point on the bracket was milled out to allow it to move forward about 3mm so that the H/balencer and P/steering pump idlers line up.

She revs to 7.2k now without throwing the belt onto the under tray, WIN.

either use the 30 bracket or cut the excess off the top lug of the 25 bracket. easy

If youve got the 30 pump thats fine but if your using the 25 one you need to mod the bracket at the bottom with a plate and remove 5 mm from the rear of the top hole to allow the pump to move forward 5 mm.

The 26 pump/bracket is different again Im told.

    • The cross sectional area of a circular hole scales with the square of diameter. So a 2mm diameter hole is 4x the area of a 1mm hole. Not double. The 1.7mm hole is nearly 3x the area of a 1mm hole. You do not need restrictors at both ends of the oil supply line. If you have new, additional restrictors at the turbo end, that you did not have before, then you do not need a restrictor at the inlet end.
    • Hi all. Been a while but things are moving along. I just have something that I am wondering about. Since I will use OEM turbo oil pumbing, I got myself a new bolt, the one that goes into the engine block oil feed. As I recall (and see visually) this bolt comes restricted with I think a 1.7mm hole? Not quite sure but it was something around that size. The turbos have 1mm restrictor bolts installed, as necessary due to ball bearings and my higher oil pressures. Can I now just use that OEM bolt with the 1.7mm hole in for the engine block or will this actually be too much oil flow restriction and I have to drill it out first? In my head it would make sense for the bolt to be at least 2mm wide as both turbos take "1mm of oil flow". Do let me know if my logic is flawed here, I just want to make sure I don't kill my turbo bearings with too little oil. Don't know if I can trust the saying I read somewhere that ball bearing turbos essentially only need an oil mist

    • Yeah based on old XRC5964S specs, it looks to be roughly GTX3576R sized? But this 5964S compressor will flow 90lb airflow somewhat similar to the compressors in both the GTX3584RS or G35-1050.. I fully expected the 0.64 rear A/R to choke up top - seems way too small from typical convention - but these are seemingly beneficial over the prior 0.82 results.. Be interesting to see if he comments on the EFR question in that thread - he mentioned in a prior video that BW EFR's were the "cats pajamas 10 years ago", but by the sounds of things all his kits have been using Xona for quite a while now.
    • Yeah it’s still got the oem manual gearbox and clutch, only kinda mods are a blow off valve, coil overs, and a aftermarket intercooler. Also had it for about 2 months now with a lovely midnight purple paint on it.
