Re-Sealing Punctured Tyre

Hi Everyone,

Just need some advice, I got a puncture on my 275/30/19 (rear right) by a screw.

Car is a rear wheel drive Skyline 350GT

New Tyre = $250

Re-seal= $10

Would you call me Crazy\Stupid if I used a re-sealed tyre on a track day at Eastern Creek??

yes. more than likely to go again under high loads. I for one would not trust it.........

no insurance on the track. what if it pops and rolls the car??

keep the tyre as a spare, once fixed. use a new tyre on the track.

sorry, but that is crazy. sure for road use, but I would never do it to a track tyre.

Yeah, I kinda already knew the answers I was gonna get.

But just so bloody expensive. Was hoping someone would suggest a new high-tech seal or something

to me it dependds on where the puncture was on the tyre and how big etc. if it was anywhere near the shoulder or the sidewall then forget it. but if it's on the face of the tyre it may not be such a bad thing. if you get it taken off and do a proper inner repair where they patch and vulcanise it etc it should be fine. it's your safety though so if it worries you then don't do it.

yea big no no i wouldnt do that.... for my 4wd i would, but def not my gtr and than a race track.

Need to make a point of difference between a plug, and removing the tire and patching it from the inside.

Track a plugged tyre? HELL NO.

Track a tyre that had been removed from the rim and a patch applied? Well that's up to everyone's opinion. I wouldn't have a problem doing anything on a tyre that had been patched properly but if you're paranoid then don't. Your safety, your call.

All good. Decided to change it to new. But resealed the old one and stored it for spares.

Will just have to skip a few meals for the next couple of weeks.
