Hey there peoples,

I am after some advice/opinions on a problem I am having with my GTR. The other day my car got hot and my radiator hose basically blew up and a lot of coolant, water and oil went everywhere and I had to get the car towed. I have since taken it to a mechanic and the hose has been replaced and been pressure tested is seems the oil pressure is more than the coolant/water. The oil is getting into the water. It has only been filled back up with water . I cannot drive the car as it is only going to get hot again. By the time I took it home around the corner it was already hot. The mechanic said it could be any of the following issues: The head gasket, a cracked head or oil catcher (I think). For them to confirm what the issue is they need to pull the engine apart or at least the front of it which could cost anywhere from 2k to 5k. At the moment I don’t have that sort of cash so it basically going to sit in garage for a while. Any ideas or suggestions

Cheers

Wade

Most likely it's air in the head causing the overheating, RB's are notoriously known for their difficulty to completely let the air escape out the head.. requiring the front end to be jacked up really high, or by parking on hills, or hacking up soft drink bottles to get the air to escape out the highest point in the system (rad cap)

As for oil/water mixing together, it could be the factory oil/water heat exchanger near the oil filter has failed, common place for failure and how oil and water can mix together
