I just found out today because my car is an automatic,it'd cost around $3,500.00 to remap or install the new piggyback ECU or something ? Not really sure.

someones taking you for a ride...

just go with a nistune board. install.. remap and away you go

What will the NISTUNE do to my car exactly ? Sorry I'm not really familiar with this kind of things as I never had a turbocharged car before lol.

In this case I would be either doing a lot of reading on here, or just find someones setup that you like and copy their setup and take it to the same tuner (obviously must be local to you and run an automatic gearbox).

It is like getting a full aftermarket ECU as it lets you retune ignition and fuel maps in real time as well as tweak some other things.

Well I think the 230kw figure is a load of crap and I doubt with a stock ecu you are making over 180, so normally you'd see ~200 with the neo turbo. It is also a required upgrade before you can do anything else, can't go bigger turbo or change injectors without it.

Should see better economy and smoother acceleration definitely thoug, really need to see what it is like on the dyno now to see how much of an improvement there can b, some look worse than others and have a huge dip in the midrange due to it richening up.

yep, i had my ecu remapped with a nisstune and it cost me $650.... and that was an auto ecu in a manual conversion

Yeah,I asked Imports 101 and they said they'd charge $1,500.00 for the Nistune, fitted, tuned and tested ? How come it's expensive compared to other workshop ?

Also regarding lowering the car with king springs, here in Perth Ian Diffen or Tech 9 Tyres can do them for $500 fitted but Imports 101 said they can do it for $750 fitted ?

Is it good service or a rip off ? Where did you do yours ?

Thanks.

They also said that I will need boost valve bleed or something for $130 fitted or a good controller for $750 fitted ? Altogether you'd be looking for $2,000.00 ?

Usually for the Nistune drive in drive out with a tune shouldn't be more than $750, i think $1500 is a bit steep for it, Instead u can get a power FC + Tune for around $1700.. I suggest you check around other places for the Nistune because its great bang for buck!!

Ring around, that is steep even if they are great tuners. A boost controller is not needed for stock turbo, an exhaust will cause it to run 10-12psi anyway with an rb20 actuator.

    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
    • Fark the AFM card and Nistune, Haltech Nexus S3, DBW, cruise control, flex fuel, dis dat.
    • It's most likely the bolt/bush where the cover bolts back wore and allowed cover to move forward.
    • Still haven't put the injectors and R35 AFM in so we can tune the bloody thing for the HG highflow it got mid last year! I think I can forecast the upgrade path to a bigger twin scroll, external gate, Haltech, flex setup, Samsonas, dis dat, etc will be .... a while away!
    • Should have taken that opportunity to slot in a twin scroll turbo setup. Maybe next time.
