Hey everyone,

The other day I bought a set of front and rear whiteline sway bars for my car. I've heard that some cars are very difficult to install them on and some cars are quite easy. I did a search to try find a tutorial of some kind but could not find a whole lot of information. Me and my friend are going to attempt to install them tonight. Are there any tips or things I should look out for while putting them in? Any help would be appreciated :)

It is fairly easy and straight forward. The hardest part is cracking the bolts after them being on the car for 15 odd years. Make sure you have a good amount of tools and go for gold.

Just a word of warning. Make sure you don't need the car to be drivable tomorrow or something. Because 9/10 with bolts that old you may snap/strip/damage one and if you are doing it at night and can't go to a store to get parts you may be without a car tomorrow.

thanks, we got the rear one in with no trouble. Had a look at the front one and it looked a bit more difficult but will give it a go tomorrow.

Front's pretty easy too mate. You may want to undo the front caster rods to get access to the front bolts for the "D" clamps, other than that it's no harder than the rear. Make sure you lube up the bushes good and proper though or they'll squeak. Also, if you do take the caster rods off, be sure to loctite the bolts when putting them back in. smile.gif

Yeah bolts at the front were a bitch! Mine were so tight i ended up having to call my personal mechanic over to undo 'em and got him to finish the job seeing as he was already here hehe.. He had to use a 800mm or so breaker bar on the castor rod bolts that go through the lower arm and even that wasn't enough...needing to put a 250mm extension on the bar before the nuts would give way. Due to the extra ends length of the whiteline adjustable bar i have, one of my castor rods and it's bracket had to be removed so the bar could go in - this is an older style bar with 5 holes though. The new ones only have 3 holes front and you probably won't need to remove the castor rod and it's bracket.

Rears are annoying if you bought adjustable bars as you then have to put in the whiteline link kit that's supplied with the bar (ditching the factory links).
